Healthy is so much more than calories. In theory, yes you need to burn more than consume if you intend to lose weight. Other factors matter too though. Salt intake will make you hold water which increases weight. A daily weigh in can be very misleading as it reflects too much about if you've had a salty meal, have or haven't had a bowel movement, slept enough etc. It is very important to consult a doctor and/or nutritionist when making major life style changes. Consume natural whole foods in moderation, stay away from fad diets and exclusion of entire food groups. Move every day. Even if it is walking at a comfortable pace. Park far from entrances, take the stairs. Be kind to yourself, never say anything to or about yourself that you wouldn't say to your best friend.
