Pretty much gave up any carbonated beverage. That was possibly the biggest contributing factor to my recent weight loss. I am plateau-ing, so once it starts warming up again, I will have to start exercising more. I decided to actually search out budget friendly healthy meals that aren't just salads, and I have found a few, it just takes so much longer to cook them.

If I had a grill, that would be amazing... I plan on buying more ground turkey to add to my meals because it is pretty tasty actually. I've done breadless turkey burgers, but the skillet doesn't do the meat justice...

You're right, Losingweight, it takes much longer to prep, cook, eat. A couple of things that have helped me are (1) Buying double-duty foods. Keep things like plain FAGE yogurt and cottage cheese in the fridge. For example, FAGE works as a breakfast with honey and fruit, a topping for baking potatoes (like using a high-protein sour cream), a mix in for smoothies and even a marinade for chicken. Worth every penny! And (2) Bulk cooking. Invest in a FoodSaver OR Ziplocs from grocery or Storage containers from the Restaurant Supply Store. Buy two rotisserie chicken and break one down for the week, take the other off the bone and freeze appropriate portions. Chop all vegetables for salads or seasonings on your 'off' day; refrigerate and store separately. Cook 1-lb beans (like black beans for a fiber add to Mexican-inspired meals) and . Store in 2-cup soup containers (with the twist lid). Two down for the week and 2 in the freezer. Make 2-lbs turkey meatloaf mix at once but roll into meatballs. Easy to bake off a tray and freeze portions in Ziplocs. A well-stocked freezer and pantry can really help get you through a month, just fill in fresh produce week-to week. I've found it impossible to keep up with my whole food eating on schedule all day without this prep time. I cannot face cooking from scratch every single night. Oh and label, label, label (item/date). I keep a Sharpie in my kitchen drawer. The ink washes off your lids in the dishwasher. Ok, Good luck!

If you are in a hurry or just not in the mood to cook. Purchase Tyson grilled precooked chicken strips. I make fajitas with them using carb conscious flour tortillas. If you want more information message me and I'll give you the recipe. 260 calories/13g fat/10g carb/ 27g protein.

If you have a Trader Joes in your area, they post their foods and calories, etc on their website. I researched some of the items I wanted to eat and shop their for those meals. Lots are fast and prepared but not processed.

Ooo, CCerza, I love Trader Joes. A little more expensive than cooking, but terrific in a pinch when there's no time for kitchen duty and you want to stay on track. You save on time and time is money too!

Today is weight in day and I am not expecting good results today. Another week has gone by and I am still trying to figure out why I won't adhere to this diet. I have been doing it for 2 1/2 years now and am backsliding. I know it sounds like excuses (and it really is low willpower) but I have to figure out what it is gonna take for me to be "real" about my weightless journey. I am mindful some of the time and just "go off" when I feel like it. I think I might be somewhat bored with my food choices and need to take the time to explore new foods that I look forward to. Or I just might be somewhat bored with this winter weather. Either way I am still journalling, and exercising ( a little), and checking in with you all. I AM NOT GIVING UP, no matter how long this "backslide period" takes me to break it.
