ChrisComedy's Journal, 28 September 2014

Yesterday, I did cardio: 1 1/2 hours on the Sunny Air Walk Trainer binge-watching "The Finder" on Netflix. Steps: 1172.

I ordered Jarrow natural whey protein to replaced the Body Fortress, which has Splenda (sucralose). I've only got one scoop left and the Jarrow doesn't arrive until Tuesday. I decided to put it on Amazon Prime's Subscribe and Save so I don't run out in the future. Same for wild-caught salmon. I've been trying to eat fish twice a week, but I've been slacking off lately so Subscribe and Save takes care of that. I've got five items lined up for my first Subscribe and Save so I save 15 percent.

Had another wide-awake episode last night. Woke after 2 1/2 hours of sleep. Stayed awake until early morning, when I managed to doze off.

Morning plank. Ten minutes on the Air Walk Trainer first thing in the morning to burn off glycogen.

Today was a cheat day on the Alternate-Day Diet and a rest and recovery day for exercise.

Cardio: 30 minutes. Steps: 630.

Diet Calendar Entry for 28 September 2014:
922 kcal Fat: 5.88g | Prot: 52.71g | Carb: 158.76g.   Breakfast: Nature's Blend Stoneground 100% Whole Wheat, Wildtree Wildly Blueberry Jam. Lunch: Milk (Nonfat), Body Fortress Designer Whey Protein Powder. more...

I got seven solid hours last night, ed. It may have taken a while for the caffeine to dissipate from my system.

Let us know how you like that one. I currently use Body Fortress' whey protein isolate. I didn't check that.

JGBOOGADES, I was using Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein, Strawberry, 1.95 lb. (885 g). I suspect the Body Fortress isolate has Splenda/sucralose, too. Most of the protein supplements contain artificial sweeteners, although some varieties of Optimum Nutrition whey protein use sugar. Jarrow's only ingredients are whey protein and lethicin (soy) which I suspect is used as an emulsifier. It tastes fine although I would probably add fruit or something else as a general rule. I haven't run the numbers comparing the amount of protein, but Jarrow at two pounds is around the same price per weight (I paid $1.50 less with Amazon Subscribe & Save). The Jarrow containers are smaller than Body Fortress, but the BF containers have a lot of air.

Thanks for the heads-up on the free books. Maybe by skipping a day of exercise will help you get better sleep?

C67241, glad the free books link was useful. I don't think my wide-awake episodes have anything to do with exercise, although anything is possible. I haven't done any strength training for several days. Might be uncomfortable bedclothes. I'm going to try wearing something less restrictive and see if it makes a difference.

JGBOOGADES, my main complaint about Jarrow whey protein is that it doesn't have a scoop, as far as I can tell. Fortunately, Slim Fast has a scoop that 26 grams, only two more than the Jarrow serving size.

Thank you ChrisComedy! :)

JGBOOGADES, the Jarrow natural whey protein works out to be three cents a gram while the Body Fortress Super Advanced clocks in at the same. No difference, but the lack of additives makes the difference for me.

That's good to know ChrisComedy. I've never heard of it before. I will probably have to buy it online. I am trying to go for a more paleo type of diet, so that would be better. Thanks for all of your information!

Turns out the Jarrow whey protein does have a scoop. It's just buried pretty far down in the container.

Have the same problem with sleep. Wake up almost every night around 3:00 AM, can't fall back to sleep, watch TV till I fall asleep again. I think falling asleep with the TV on all these years have had a lot to do with it. Most of the times I fall back to sleep once I start watching TV again, but sometimes I can watch a whole movie or two before dozing off.

Chillie Willie, when I wake up, it's usually around 4 for some reason. I feel wide awake, but if I start listening to a podcast I fall back asleep. The blue light from the tv may be keeping you up.
