Bringing the dog for a walk is much better than turning to food. Even though I came home to the same craziness at least I had time to cool down and I'm not mad at myself for eating junk.

That's what I do. I don't have a dog, but when I want to snack I just walk away from the kitchen. I drink flavored teas and chew sugar free gum. If I feel hungry and have not yet eaten all my calories for the day, I usually eat one Brazil nut or 3 almonds. Decaffeinated coffee with sugar free sweetener is soothing.
