kimmyjeanmiller's Journal, 30 August 2014

After 27 years I decided to leave nursing this week and apply for disability. I can no longer make it in the hospitals to work as my physical limitations due to my weight have finally taken a toll on me and for now I am calling it quits. I am deeply saddened at the closing of this chapter in my life but a part of me is excited at what is ahead of me. I am going to do some volunteer work and work on my knitting and possibly start selling some of what I make. I am going to take one day at a time from now on and continue to walk this path of weight loss to improve my health and possibly go back to work one day. But for now it is time to say goodbye to my patients and coworkers and concentrate on my home and family.

Volunteer work sounds like a good idea. Helping others makes us feel good inside. Stick to your new lifestyle and one day you will get your physical mobility back.

Kimmy - I just logged in for the first time in ages and this is the first post I saw. I hope so much for you to finally find the energy to care for yourself. You always seem to put your son and husband and job before you. You know how when the flight attendant reminds everyone on the plane to put their own air mask on first before helping the person next to them? Well, it's time to put your air mask on. Take care of you. XOXO Barbara
