Socolova's Journal, 29 August 2014

I have zero energy today. I DID get up and walk 2 miles before work, however, it was like I was DRAGGING myself to do it. I didn't want to, but I did it anyway, whining the whole way like a little kid. Working out this last week has been such a chore, maybe because I was so burned out BEFORE vacation, and vacation was so stressful (thanks sister-in-law) that I didn't really get a break to just relax. I kept up my running when it wasn't raining so I really didn't take a break at all. I'm pushing through though, it's tough but I'm chugging along. Two pounds still clinging on from last week (stupid salt intake), once I get rid of those I'll record a weight so quit asking me to FS!! Lol

In other news, work has been super busy, I didn't even realize that our 1-year anniversary is in exactly 1 month. Wow, a year, it FLEW by! I bought him a guided fishing tour while we will be at the cabin again at the end of September. I'm such a nice wife, here honey, go fishing on our anniversary Lol :) So, that also means that vacation #2 countdown has begun. I'll try to be a little less annoying about it this time...maybe....27 days! Thank goodness, hopefully this one's a bit better!

Happy Friday, my friends! I hope you all have a fun, safe, LONG weekend!! :)

Sometimes we can overdo the exercise which increases our stress hormone, cortisol, along with reduced sleep and other stressors we can set up for this issue. Increased insulin levels from raised cortisol make you feel low energy, and cause a host of other problems. When you're tired pay careful attention to your diet and try not to get too many simple carbohydrates. They're just going to cause a more severe crash later. Have a great weekend and get some rest!

If you get a chance, take a moment and google "adrenal fatigue". It's caused primarily by stress and can be exhausting. A lot of people have it. I spent a long time reading about it and it took me almost 1.5 years after I quit my job to completely resolve my adrenal fatigue from those soul-sucking monsters (isn't that such a sweet little pet name I have for them) with whom I worked. In addition to making you exhausted, if left unmanaged, it can also lead to sugar and salt cravings and more serious immune system problems, so it's definitely something to be aware of. On the vacation front, fishing at a cabin sounds like fun! My next trip isn't until my birthday in 7 weeks for the half-marathon/fitness expo in Bethlehem, PA. It's not exactly Fiji or The Maldives, but it'll have to do for now. *sigh*

I am so proud of you for pushing forward, because we all know I am not the best push through it kind of person. Your anniversary will be much more relaxing and fun, just don't invite SIL. LOL Have a great day

Sorry, workout has been a struggle this week. You're probably right that it is from not being able to relax during your relaxing vacation. I hope that a little rest will fix you right up. Keep it up because you are doing so great!
