For the last several weeks, the Higi machine has been down. Today I got a weight! I'm down eight pounds. A few days ago, a very negative article came out about keto. All the nay-sayers are jubilant. The problem, however, is that 37% carb intake is nowhere near keto, and what was the nutritional content of the food actually eaten? Who knows? It was not a formal study, because it relied on self-reporting and not testing. That doesn't matter to some. Haters want to hate. I prefer to look at the hard data Dr. Noakes had to present to his government in order to keep his medical license. Keto works for a great number of folks.

Not everyone is suited for it. Blood type or body type may dictate how well it works for each individual. Both classifications indicate that this is the single most important WOE I personally can choose. My vitals reflect that. My waking blood glucose is in the 90s, and my blood pressure has fallen into the normal range. No, I don't go out of my way to exercise. My last A1c, (two months ago), was 5.2, which had fallen from the 7.8 it was when I was first tested in 2012.

Not all calories are equal, and one can go too low. I learned this on a medically supervised diet from 2009. Go too low, and you lose muscle instead of fat. Eat the wrong kinds of foods and get sick. Personally, I can have no "cheat days" unless the treats we are talking about are homemade salsa on pork rinds covered in cheese. (My protocol demands that I eliminate all milk products, but the occasional treat is allowed.)

This rant comes after a woman in the grocery store felt compelled to lecture me on my choices. "You're going to have a heart attack!" she said. Then, when I signed on here, I saw another person trashing keto. Why do so many people feel that they have to control others? Do they feel out of control themselves?
