Hi Sally, normal fluctuation can account for some of that - but without knowing your height/age relative to weight, it's hard for me to offer more advice because all that plays into your basal metabolic rate (how much your body burns basically just existing, for instance if you slept 24 hrs)...and your total daily expenditure (which is that base rate plus the movement through the day, exercise, errands whatever). What I can say, if it helps at all, is that for me, FatSecret's "exercise" calculations are TOO generous for anything that isn't really exercise and can lead to false expectations! What you might try for a few days, to see if it helps, is recalculate your RDI with your information but be conservative with the exercise part - list as sedentary, then each day, be sure to eat below whatever that number is. There's no need to be drastic about it, for instance if the number is 1600, then try sticking to no more than that, say, 1500. But do give it some time as well....this isn't an overnight fix and the body needs time to adjust. Basically try to look at things methodically, don't be afraid to tweak and see what will keep things working for you. Good luck!

Make yourself log - whatever you eat make yourself weigh it and log it .. establish that habit then start to work out how you can hit your calorie defecit. Old 'un but a good 'un .... Losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Pick your hard.

You Diet Calendar show "This is some of what I ate". You have to weigh and count everything you put in your mouth, AND LOG IT. If you have two Mars Bars a day and log it, then, when you step on the scales and the weight is up, you can look back and see why. AND make changes accordingly. Your RDI of 1700 is fine. You just have to count everything, and stick to it.

I agree with the above. The only way I can do this is by logging everything, good or bad. And don't estimate - there lies danger! It's amazing how a weighed 300g portion of mashed potatoes is "about 150g" when you do it by eye. It's a pain but it's worth it. I spent January & February this year mainly just logging so that I could see what I needed to do from the start of March. Best of luck and don't get dis-heartened - we all have good days and bad days but the support here is magnificent so make the most of us :)

All the above are right on the money. Honest logging is the absolute key. Even a 10 calorie nibble at a broken biscuit adds up in the great scheme of things. Yes, its hard but anything worth doing is worth full commitment and honest logging.
