Ok. I have to be honest with myself. I am a binge eater. I can do well for 4 or 5 days then go on an all out binge. What would a compulsive expert say?

Your not alone Ellen. Forgive yourself and start a new day. You can do this!!! Even if you have binged for several days or weeks just remember each day is a new day that only you can control. So take charge and do it! Have faith in yourself.

Ellen, I say go with it. You could design your eating plan around your predisposition. For example, could you be strict for 5 or 6 days, then take one day off per week where you give yourself permission to eat whatever you want? Just the mental act of giving yourself permission makes the whole thing a lot less taboo. And one day - guilt free is a whole lot better than random dayS with a ton of guilt. And so many people believe in "calorie cycling" these days anyway. It works for me!
(One other thing to consider, I'm not a firm believer in Atkins, myself, although I know a lot of people do like it.) Perhaps the diet itself (Atkins) is what is making you want to go off. Just as an experiment, you might try another type of eating plan and see how you do with that. (You can always go back to Atkins if you find it's best for you.) One final thought: Life isnt' a race, it's okay to take the scenic route and enjoy the view while you travel to your destination.
