Doing well... slowly but surely the weight scale is going to places it hasn't been in thirteen years so I'm very happy... but my friends keep wanting to go out to eat and I'm getting salads - I really don't want to eat out very often... many of the restaurants I'm taken to have nothing low carb but salads... I am thinking of raising my goal weight - yet 180 may be reasonable as after eating a large amount of salad food and water I notice I can gain way more than five pounds in one day... I'm 6'3" so I'll be very thin, but was much thinner when I was young, maybe 185 should be my goal, not certain yet.. one site said my ideal weight is 197 (I'm lucky I'm tall) - but I want to be below it some to take some pressure off of my arthritis and to be able to eat bigger meals like steak dinners at a restaurant without worrying too much about the scale... best wishes dieting everyone.. continue with this diet even if you plateau eventually if you really stick with this as a lifestyle change it'll make you lose weight and feel better energy-wise...

I get sick of salads too sometimes. I try to get different ones where they have them. I try to enjoy the variety. Good luck. You sound a lot closer to your goal than you thought.

sararay - you're right - even if I need to lose 26 more pounds I'm closer to my goal than I thought as the weight is coming off pretty quickly... though I may need to only get to 185 as I'm a good height.

In deciding on your final goal weight I think you should go by how you feel more than the actual number. Yes, you are tall so 180 might be too thin. You want to be able to easily maintain your goal and if you get too low, your body may not like it and rebel, so to speak. As your arthritis improves you should be able to start adding more weight bearing activities which will help increase your muscle mass. I've read that exercise can help improve arthritis so keep adding what you can.

Keep pushing forward!!! Sounds like you are doing great! I get sick of salads as well, I had a 1-a-day rule and just got burnt out on them. Look for other dishes on the menu!!! I have worked at alot of restaurants over the years and there is ALWAYS something on the menu that you can tweak to make it Atkins acceptable...good luck!
