Swiiila's Journal, 19 February 2018

Back down a few ounces. I ate pretty well today. I chose a salad at McAlister's Deli and their delicious kale turkey soup. Dinner was kind of a grab bag affair because I didn't have any meat, and my family doesn't do vegetarian too well. So, I scrounged together a vanilla cake w/o icing, eggs, bacon, and strawberries. I managed to come in just over my calorie goal, but my fats are way out of proportion. Some shopping and spring cleaning helped balance the calories with some fuel burning. All in all, not too bad.

my fats are always way out of proportion! I don't think I can drink skim milk, and I eat a lot of dairy. I had been kidding myself that butter is good for you but I just read an article how saturated fats attract saturated fats (ie, make you crave them). That was in mice, but still. I'm switching cooking my omelettes in olive oil and don't eat any toast with my eggs to avoid the butter. Sometimes instead I make huevos rancheros, to get more variety with the tortillas and salsa. But fat seems to be hard for me to avoid.

I also love dairy, and I am lactose intolerant. Everything I like seems to have a lot of fat in it. I had some green beans tonight, but they were a lifeless affair without being cooked in some fat, even though I tried to spice them up. You are right, skim milk tastes nasty. Even soy or almond milk is better.
