Tachatna's Journal, 26 January 2018

Two months ago, my hubby got some scary medical news. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Surviving long term needed him to make some drastic life style changes. He urgently needed to drop weight (among other things). I have watched him for two months dedicating himself to doing just that. So far, he has lost 35+ pounds.

I am fat. There is no delicate way to say that for me. My weight is 244 on my first day on Fatsecret. I am diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, COPD and mobility issues in my joints. I am not quite sure when I rationalized relying on insulin, high blood pressure meds, cholesterol lower drugs was the way I lived my life rather than actually DOING something to reverse some of the medical issues I have before it is too late. It's a sad commentary to my thinking processes.

Well, today is the first day of following a HEALTHY way of life. It's the first day on a journey to drop pounds. It's the first day of the journey to get off Insulin. It is the first day on a journey to remove Crestor and high blood pressure meds from my daily regime. It is the first day I have actually taken charge of my health issues in years.

My husband is my hero. Without him, I would never have found Fatsecret. I would have been "content" with pills and shots in the belly to keep me alive. Today, I am going to start a journey that will hopefully lead to him being able to say, "I'm proud of you as well".

Don't get me wrong! I am certainly NOT doing this for him. I am doing the FOR ME! He is just the inspiration. I'm grateful!

That is an awesome story! Welcome to fs good luck with your journey, stay motivated even when the scales don't move. Take your measurements there will be times the tape measure speaks louder than the scale. We are a very supportive community we will help you all you have to do is ask!❤️

Thank you! I'm headed to the bathroom to take measurements now! I did Weight Watchers years ago and had forgotten how much the measurements showed when the scale didn't! Thanks for reminding me!

Yay! And you are SO right, scales can LIE! I saw someone say their scales weren't moving, but they had measured and cut strings, one each for waist, hips, etc. and taped them on the wall. They showed a pic of the latest set of strings, much shorter, even tho the scales showed no loss!

I want to encourage you. Two years ago, I weighed 239 lbs and I am only 4 ft. 11 1/2 inches tall. To say I was FAT is putting it lightly. Now, after some dieting on my own for a year, and then learning about Ketogenic diet last February, I have lost 106 lbs. On the Keto diet, I honestly can say "I was never hungry, once." I still eat Keto, and am very close to my goal weight of 129 - that's a high weight according to what the charts say, but I am 72 years old, and want to have some "reserve" in case I become seriously ill. I have had 6 heart attacks, and just had thyroid surgery 2 months ago. You can loose weight - one day at a time - so can your husband.

Welcome! I do not look that fat but for my height - 150cm if I hit over 70kg I am in obese range! I have health problems as well! with DB2 and high blood pressure. Please do google on youtube videos done by Dr Jason FUNG especially the once re Diabetes2 as he REVERSED heaps of DB2 and took ppl of insulin AND pills for all sort of conditions. And so fast!...Days and weeks and NOT months and years! Since I started following his fasting diet I am melting away! - 2.2kg this week - my first week here and on diet. And fasting is easy peasy! I was not hungry at all as you do the 16hrs fasting mostly from evening over night (while we sleep) and in the morning. And this site helps me to record what I eat so I can see how much I am putting in AND HOW healthy the stuff is. It is over all great fun!...:-) GOOD LUCK and persevere! It can be done!

YOU CAN DO IT ! 75 years old... 9 months ago 273 lbs. 5' 10. Border line DB2.... COPD ... Congestive Heart Disease.. Kidney Disease... Lung nodules..... edema with large skin blisters going from size 10 shoe to size 13 for swollen feet and unreal restless leg syndrome with painful knees. Last week MD visit... 75 lbs. lighter (cleared for another 15 lbs.)... no concern about heart disease or DB2... first time in 7 years kidney markers in the black.... 50% breathing improvement (wowed Oncologist) ..... no edema and back to size 10 shoe (Wowed Dermatologist) .... restless legs rare and walking the neighborhood 3 times per week (wowed Neurologist).... No dairy (almond milk, Greek yogurt, Eggbeaters).. No bread (tortillas & wraps)... No deserts (sugar free jello )... No cookies.... NO FAST FOOD..... Check every choice with Fat Secret for sugar and salt content. Work daily meal totals between 1200 and 1400 calories..... I advise people that ask how I am doing it that Fat Secret is not a diet it is a 'food awareness program' ..... bottom line... "if I can do it, you can do it" is total BS. It is up to YOU and unreal desire and dedication..... Regardless its what you put in the "PIE HOLE" that will make the difference. YOU CAN AND YOU WILL DO IT ! P.S. I would kill for a donut....

WELCOME - The best attitude now is to attack this with an attitude !!!!!! - The great news you are starting and now is as good as time as any - Having no knee pain, gas in places that you don't want it, tiredness, these are things you will get rid of - These will motivate you - 1 positive thing leads to another which leads to another and then you get emotional, you cry and become a blubbering ....... you know - Much success, start with an easy challenge - Whatever your worst habit is, cut back on it and see where it goes. Go to next bad habit, do the same - Quitting habits cold turkey is impossible , so know it won't happen - GO GREEN, WHEN NOT IF - Everyday you wake up, for one is great, everyday you feel better is exciting, everyday hitting the goals you want is priceless -
