We were treated to lunch today at a Chinese restaurant by a family who had recently moved to the US from China. My hubby was integral to helping with the employment portion of their move, as well as helping them with the social adjustments in moving to a new country. We had a very nice lunch, but, between ordering our favorites and his ordering dishes from home (in Chinese, which the waiter but none of us understood), we ended up with WAY too much food. The dishes just kept coming and coming. I enjoyed my lunch and was not tempted to eat the last little bit of this or that to finish up the dishes because it soon became apparent there was absolutely no way we were going to eat everything. When I felt I had eaten enough, I stopped. The hard part was continuing to stop. I am happy to say I resisted to urge to eat a little more of this or that, despite the fact that turning of the lazy susan on the table kept presenting such a variety of good things to eat.

I was able to go running this morning before we headed out to lunch. I didn't go too far or long, but I felt really good. I can breathe and run without having to concentrate too hard on it. I seem to have found a pretty good (albeit slow) rhythm that allows me to run for longer and longer without having to stop and walk. I'd still rather be hiking...

Did you like any of the authentic Chinese dishes better than your favorites? Good for you for getting some exercise in before hitting the restaurant.

Actually, our friend said the dishes were all americanized. He said next time he would take us to a more authentic restaurant. I did try some dishes we normally wouldn't have selected, and everything was good.
