Maureeeen's Journal, 30 January 2012

I gave into temptation today. Quarter Pounder with Cheese and french fries from McDonald's. I figured get it out of my system and then start fresh tomorrow.

Some things I realized:
a. It really was not as delicious as I thought it was going to be.
b. My stomach is rebelling right now. It feels like cement in there.
c. I feel so much better after I eat veggies for lunch and have a slice or two of chicken breast.
d. I have no energy right now. I want to take a nap.
e. Tomorrow is another day and I'm not going to beat myself up about this.
f. I'm putting away my scale for a month. (I think this is why I did this today...I weighed myself and the stupid scale hasn't moved and I was so darn disappointed I wanted to throw it out the window.)
g. Tomorrow is another day.

Hey Maureen - so sorry for the disappointment. A note on the Pepsi...I read an article yesterday about the chemicals in sodas and how the soda's interact with your body and where it stores fat. Reading that article has enable me to ban diet Pepsi from my diet forever. The study says that soda drinkers - sugared and diet - develop more intra-organ fat (like in the liver and kidneys)...the really toxic and bad for your health kind of fat...not to mention the petro chemicals that are part of the ingredient list. I have had a very HARD time kicking the diet soda habit...I always cave when I get stressed. But no more...my body is more important to me than the diet soda fix. I now drink flavored carbonated water (no artificial sweeteners or preservatives). It has taken a long time to make the switch completely, but I have made the final break. Hang in there, keep reviewing your food journal, and make food swaps. Look for a healthy alternative that feeds the same craving. I have added nuts and dried fruit to my salads, and opted for a higher calorie dressing that is all natural...result - I am eating a salad a day and liking it. You can do this!
