Wow - it's Wednesday already!

I've been busy. Friday I was down all day recovering from the effects of the anesthesia from the colonoscopy. I felt nauseous and tired most of the day. Saturday we had a houseful of guests over for my granddaughter's 7th birthday party. I was not supposed to be hosting. My daughter-in-law asked if they could change the location of the party to our house due to the weather. I have a hard time not being in "hostess-mode", so I ended up doing most of the prep and clean-up. By the end of the day my stomach was really crampy and tender. I'm assuming it was a result of the colonoscopy the day before. Sunday was mostly quiet, but we had houseguests (DS#5 and his two boys) all day. I felt exhausted and just sat around and did nothing.

By Monday I was recovered enough to continue my project around the house. I am staining the inside of the logs. I finished the logs in the kitchen and decided to do the door and the trim. On Tuesday I began the big project of staining the logs in the great room as well as staining the beams on the ceiling. I was only able to get about a quarter of the logs and three of the nine beams stained yesterday. My neck and shoulders are sore so this morning I am going to do some grocery shopping and give my arms a rest. I will need to get back to it soon, otherwise I will be looking at two different colored walls and beams.

My eating has not been great. When I am working hard on a project I find it difficult to take the time to eat properly. I don't stop until I'm hungry, and then I don't make the best choices. The other weird thing is I have food in the refrigerator/freezer, but nothing looks good to eat - and I don't feel like taking the time to make a nice meal. I don't know what I want to buy at the grocery store today. GoodMan wants some multigrain bread, but other than that I just need to find something we can eat that's healthy and quick.

Medical procedures, family gatherings, and household projects are all a part of life. I need to find a way to stay on a healthy track through all of them. No better time to practice than now.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Sounds like an awesome project! Is it a log home you have? We built a small log cabin and I loved the staining and all the work with it comes with!

Iulani ~ we own a log home that I think was a 2-bedroom log kit in the 1970's. It has had a number of additions over the years. We bought it about three years ago and added our share of improvements. Since moving here we've gutted and rebuilt the kitchen, remodeled 2 bathrooms as well as added two egress windows and three guest rooms and a full bathroom in the basement. It is now a 6-bedroom 3-full-bathroom home. I don't know what kind of logs they are. The outside of the house has been stained a dark brown. The inside of the logs look like they haven't been sealed since the house was built. The logs look very dry and reddish brown. I would have liked to have the light colored logs and seal them with clear sealer, but the age and condition of the logs require the darker stain. I hope you enjoy your log cabin! Keeping up with the work is a challenge, but I love the results.

Sorry to hear your colonoscopy resulted in cramping. Hope you got rid of Polyps.

I was wondering how the colonoscopy went and I appreciate your report. I'm having mine in a week and I dread it - the prep especially. I have the same experience with the so-called twilight sleep they use during some procedures now, where the rest of the day is a wash. My prep is different from yours where only fake fat, beans, corn and seeds are eliminated a couple of days before which suggests to me they're using a really caustic purge. :( This too shall pass. I bet you're glad it's over with!
