Slightly blew it today. Had to take my son to the doc. Pneumonia. He had smoke inhalation from the house fire, been outside too long, and voila! So...long long day of driving back and forth...then the cows got loose at the house. Ended up picking pizza up for my son...and had a slice because I was quite starving. Just limited myself to 1 slice, and then arrived home to see a friend had made a custard pie...dang, dang dang. Why do all my friends have to be such awesome cooks???!!!

My tongue in cheek motto has always been: If I can't be skinny, I will make all my skinny friends fat. This whole baking thing was MY ploy. And, now it backfires!!! Phooey.

One can hardly blame you! It sounds like you've had a somewhat stressful time, and that may be putting it mildly! Don't worry about it, one piece of pizza this one time shouldn't cause that big a problem. As for the pie? It sounds like you've got some nice friends! A treat from a friend can just make it that much better. ^^ I don't think you blew it at all. :)

That's the thing. I can usually roll with whatever is happening--just calm cool and collected 99% of the time. (Even my kids agree-its hard to get me angry or frustrated.) I think, in re-evaluating things, the pizza thing was really a matter of poor planning on my part, coupled with an insane chain of events. We had been to the doc's, got the Rx called in to Wallyworld, waited in line, told that it would take an hour to fill; so we shopped, came back to the p/u line- and had to wait again. I get up to the pick up desk, and the lady tells me it will be another 40-50 minutes because the doc sent the Rx with wrong directions. (This was a Z-pack. Not rocket science.) I was calm, and told her that the doc's office closes in 10 minutes, and suggested they get on the horn and call- and call often. They did, but we still had to wait another 20 minutes. The kids are starving by now, and I am hungry too. So we stop to get pizza on the way to drop my son off. While I'm inside getting pizza, DH calls and tells the kids that all the cows are loose in the yard, and we need to get up there to help corral them in. So, I high-tailed it back to the house, and just ate a slice while I was driving. My lower GI is paying for the deluge of gluten right now. I had the pie an hour or two later---when I found it in the fridge here at the condo. I stayed away from the crust, but man....it was an awesome treat for me.
