Dieting is not working for me. I think I'm concentrating too much on the TYPES of food I'm eating, instead of concentrating on my BODY! So how do I turn my body from flabby, fatty and out of shape to slim, strong and athletic? I already walk on my treadmill for over an hour a day. But I haven't been able to incorporate weight training in effectively. I'm going to try to change myself the way the contestants do on the Biggest Loser. That's my goal.

My first step is to add exercise into my evening routine. After I write this, I'm going to go onto my treadmill for my usual routine. And then, instead of giving in to being tired at night, which invariably leads me to overeat, I'm going to do a light walk, and maybe some strength training. I really need to work on my stomach muscles. Maybe that will be my focus to begin with. Core training. Does anyone know any good websites that show good core training?

I'm hoping that I can switch my mindset over from fat to fit!!! Wish my luck! And any advice will be welcomed.

A note to my buddies -- thank you for being so supportive!!! When I'm not pleased with myself, I have a difficult time commenting on your journals. The lack of my contribution is actually a good barometer for my own current lack of success. I'm hoping to pull myself up out of the muck in order to be there for you, as well as for myself.

Eating really clean (avoiding processed type foods) and a combination of cardio and strength training is the way to go. But you also have to do things that fit your lifestyle and listen to your own body. There's a magazine called "Off the Couch" out now by Oxygen. It has some inspirational stories of weight loss, exercise and motivation. It's worth reading and then taking from it what will work for you. Good luck!

I did buy that magazine, and it's been an inspiration for me since I bought it. There are so many articles in there and so many success stories. Actually, it's from those articles that I'm getting all my new ideas. I want to subscribe to it, but I wasn't sure whether it was only a single issue.

I think it only comes out a few times a year. But the cover model is a real person who lost like 300 pounds and looks amazing. I am trying to incorporate the menus they have in it, but change them a little to fit my life. Just have to get through Halloween. I usually exercise a lot, then let myself have a couple of pieces of candy. The hardest part is when the kids candy sit around for weeks afterward.
