I usually get between 180-200g from chicken and lean ground beef. Then I get 40-80g from 1-2 protein shakes. The other amount (5-10%) just comes from random foods.

Oh wow thanks! More simple then i thought. I just started using Musclepharm Combat protein again, its helped with reaching my goal.

I think you can do it 💪

Dazey, I don't like the extra ingredients of protein powders. I use "Now Protein Isolate". No added ingredients. Then I put healthy stuff in like oats, PB powder and fruit.

OTB, I think I can but it might be quite the challenge at first.

I believe in you bro. How does Now Protein Isolate taste (without the oats)?

Now tastes like other pure protein isolate. It doesn't have a flavor so it doesn't taste great. But it doesn't taste terrible. I have added in 10g to my hot oats a few times. I have tried adding it to my coffee once but it didn't mix well. It's fine with 16oz of water.

Oh ok I'm going to try it out. Since I'm new to protein powder, I've been experimenting with different brands but I would rather have a more natural solution vs the other alternatives.

TheUnhealthyDaddy- ill have to check out that protein powder. Been using Musclepharm since my competition boxing days.

Why is it difficult? Surely cutting out some snacks would pull you down to 3400?

THD, I imagine that for most your caption made total sense, but I'm confused. Could you clarify what your goal is and the method you are using to achieve it? Thank you in advance.

Yes, it is more difficult than I thought it would be. I've been eating at 4k calories for a few months and doing zero cardio. My goal is to keep as much muscle as possible during this cut. So, I will start with 3400 calories and 600-800 burned daily with light cardio. I'm very shaky this week already and haven't gotten down to 3400. The calories burned with my walking on top of the weight training is making me very hungry all day long. I might have to go back to IF 11a, 4p & 9p like I did in the fall. Once again, I'm just concerned about losing the hard earned muscle so I will be adjusting as needed. I'm assuming I've gained 3-5lbs of lean mass but won't know until I cut.

JB, yes I need to cut out snacks. I will need to replace them with some more dense carbs since my protein is at a good spot. The snacks are from the shaking. I hit the IDGAF point and need something quick. My insulin resistance has clearly been thrown off on this bulk.

I know JB has seen my dietary intake and is skaking her head thinking...we have another Diablo diet. Lol

Nope--did not even bother looking at your menu. Just read your previous journal about shakes, and figured you were drinking your calories (fast consumption) instead of chewing them (slower).

So when eating that many calories at 4000 do you break that up into 6 or more meals so when you cut you eliminate some meals. I can see where IF would help with being hungry with the cut. Just curious!

I am still eating 5x daily. During my IF, I was only eating 3x but I wasn't doing weights. I will have to figure out a plan to be able to get enough energy for both cardio and weights. Maybe I'll do 9a,1p,5p,9p with 750 cals per meal and then drink my 400 calorie shake post workout. My gym times are all over the place since my wife works graves.
