SuccessThisTime58's Journal, 19 May 2015

Good Tuesday Morning,
FatSecret Friends & T.E.A.M.ates!!!

(Together Everyone Accomplishes More!)
What PERSPECTIVE helps YOU in your weight-loss/health journey???
For some, the "military" word picture is helpful as we "fight the
battle" and as others encourage us to "fight on, FS Warriors!!"
For (NEW) Jon Walsh & Company, we "CLIMB the mountain" every single day!!! Others enjoy the "sports" comparison...folks like RockiesFan and RaidersFan(?)(not POSITIVE I am remembering that one correctly) and others let us know of their interest in sports by their very user name. Some prefer to simply see this whole process as a JOURNEY, and we are mutual encouragers traveling together, oft-times over a WILDERNESS path. Still others, compare the task before us to a "Business/Academic project" in which we can ASSIST one another in completion. Then there are those of us who see the journey as SPIRITUAL (whether Christian, or another persuasion) where we strengthen and encourage each other from our mutual faith-based resources.
Some folks, like myself, enjoy the courage and strength that comes from ALL of the above ways of thinking about our journey to better health.
I would be honored to have you comment on ANY of the above...OR TO ADD others that are MEANINGFUL to YOU!!!!
Thanks for listening
And especially, Thanks for CARING!!!!

The important thing here STT is the comrade-re. No matter the metaphor of the struggle, what connects us & brings out the passion to succeed, with the compassion to help, is the connections we have bridged with the people. Our fellow brothers & sisters, bound together as one unit; acting in tandem to accomplish the goal of this goal. I do not know if I could do this without you, & when I say you, I refer to all of the you's out there. The people give so much support, it lifts my spirit; & the most rewarding characteristic is, the more support you give, the more you receive back. It multiplies & comes back to you. These words we type build bonds. Just my perspective; an old offensive lineman, who is just glad to be a part of the team.

Because of my military, I have always used the words "Never quit, Never surrender"...So I do not know how to quit only to succeed and move forward. I am grateful for the military as it has helped me succeed in many areas of my life. The support of others also goes back to my military because in the military we are trained as a unit. We have each others backs and as you all know that saying "leave no man/woman behind"...So for me I always use the perspective of the military training I went thru in areas of life including healthy lifestyle eating...HOOAHHH!!!

AND JW, totally agree, it is not the metaphor we use that matters, but rather the SUPPORT we all share!!! SO glad BOTH of YOU are T.E.A.Mates!!!!!!!!

FS would not be worth coming to without the wonderful people who share their experiences with each other. I am grateful for all the people here as I travel along in this "journey"!

I get so inspired as I read everyone's journey, each one has some different methods to help others, and that makes it worth the effort to stay clean and go forward ...Thanks All ,I am new to the buddy team but I do read everyday ....I was using my iPhone to record but recently went to my iPad and so many great things on here that you can not see on the iPhone. Have a great week to all of you !!

Yes - perspective is such an individual thing. Hard to believe some guys actually don't care how their butt looks in a pair of blue jeans!

I think we all agree that without each other this would be a lonely trip....I find that being part of the whole FS scene makes me want to be a better person. I haven't met one person yet who is selfish, catty, or unkind. While each of us is responsible for his/her own progress, we still need the support and encouragement from our friends on FS. Thanks for bringing up this topic.

Thanks to Beth,GK,& Audrey for your comments...And YES team-mates, please be aware that IF you ONLY USE your Iphone or other mobile device to come to FS, you MAY be missing SOME journal posts AND Private Messages from your Buddies...NOT PUSHING ANYONE, just saying...

This is why I like this site better than the other one, despite the programming bugs. The support helps me SO much on the days when I'm tired and just want to crawl back into bed and stay there. I did that for 2 years. I don't want to go back to that. Ever.

THANKs for your comments Gwen,...SURELY Loneliness was ONE of the things that in our past and perhaps EVEN NOW nudge us to seek COMFORT from food instead of people...Thanks for your support!!!!

I like hearing all the different perspectives and ideas people use to get through their days. The more ways I have of looking at this, the more successful I am likely to be. Thanks to you all for sharing all of your wonderful thoughts and ideas.

Thanks BuffyBear for reminding us that many women do have the motivation to look better in their current clothes AND/OR to move into a smaller size... Sarge & BB, thanks for reminding us of the need for HUMOR along the way. Thanks for your comment Izzy!!!!! AND I echo Izzy's comment...THANKS to ALL of you for taking the time to contribute to this post!!!!!!!!!

Through time I have learned to respect me and sometime's I even like who I am. Not letting someone's view define me as a person has helped me a lot. At first my journey for this weight loss was to be the size I was when I first was dating my husband and I have met this goal and succeeded it to even a few more pounds less than that. I realize that for these past three years my husband cancer is a part of our world together and it defines in our day to day life together. Dam this cancer. Anyhow I am still learning to be strong and not use food as a crutch and learning to talk and pray more. Not that I will find the answers, however; perhaps I am searching more inner strength to overcome it and find peace. I struggle then I pray. Sometime's I even listen to Mandisa. Not as much anymore. I am learning to let my friend's in more and trust. As for my husband I have all these thing's that a wife could ask for ie. **love, support, compassion, a best friend and soul mate.** There are no barrier's between my husband and I, no secret's except if it's a present. I am truly blessed and I am most of the time happy and contend with my life and my choices. Learning to live with it and have few regrets. No shoulda', coulda' woulda's unless it harmful to me or anyone I love. I have learned that at least so far. So this final 5-6 lbs is for ME and me alone if I choose to lose it as it will be the most difficult task as it is the hardest to lose. There is a life lesson in there and I hope to continue to grow as a person. So thanks for sharing. I often wonder if your calling is to be a sounding board for other's or you have some mentoring experience as sometime's speaking for myself I used to try to help other's so I didn't have to deal with my own struggles. My hope for you Terry is that you are happy and have a good life. And continue to be my buddy as I believe "God" puts us in the right place at the right time. Thank you for your continued support and on-line friendship. Truly, Jen
