Good Friday Morn, FS Buddies
OK, I have decided to "own" where I am...so on Mon. I will post
WHATEVER the scale says...because that is REALITY...
(It's still emotionally painful to think about possibly seeing my first gain in over 6 months actually "in print.")
[color=green]But, as I tell EVERYONE ELSE (almost constantly..LOL) the scale is ONLY ONE of our tools
.
On a personal note: Our son and daughter in law are coming from Texas for a visit A WHOLE week earlier than planned...LOL...Looking sooo forward to seeing them...[color=red]HOWEVER, eating wise AND house cleaning wise, we could have really used those EXTRA 7 days...LOL They arrive late Sun. evening...
Y'all have a blessed Friday thru Sunday filled with HEALTHY choices and AFFIRMING people
...[b]Y'all ARE A GREAT SUPPORT TEAM...and I VALUE every single one of you :)

Whatever the scale says remember it's just a number and a marker on the path of a longer journey...no journey is just a flat path. Hope you have a great visit with your son and D-I-L.

Good Morning!SuccessThisTime58'S, Hang in there and enjoy your time with the family and I know by your words, you'll do just fine. We all at times have those moments, but we just have to keep trying and I know with we all we succeed. GOD Bless you and talk at ya soon.

I can relate to the disappointment in the numbers going up instead of down and not wanted to record that. I recently posted on this myself. What I finally came to was that it was better to show my "real" journey that demonstrated that I DID struggle and that I was strong enough to get back on track. I wanted to record that fact so my possibly forgetful future self didn't look back on the journey and see the chart and think - see it was so easy then, but NOW I struggle and maybe I convince myself or give myself an excuse that I can't get back on track if I veer from the path. I'm hoping that my visual representation of the struggle can give my future self some hope and strength to persevere forever. Just a thought - hang in there! Sharon

Thanks JMB...I so value your posts here and all around FS...Yes, Patsy, we ARE going to succeed TOGETHER...as a TEAM (Together Everyone Accomplishes More!!) Thanks Sharon, you put into slightly different words what Buffy Bear and a couple of others were telling me in my last post. It is helpful!!!!!

That number is not you just what you weigh, which does not always reflect how healthy we have been or our choices for some reason. Even if it is a gain I am sure it will only be temporary!

I have decided that this journey is all based on courage. Courage to put yourself out there and courage to accept defeat graciously and success humbly! You and I couldn't be with a better group of people to learn about courage...FS folks genuinely care! Enjoy your family's visit and by your words, I know you will do what is best for you.

Don't forget to own all the success you've had as well. But let's not talk past tense here - your journey is not ending because of one bad week.

PS - last night I was looking at all the junk I've accumulated over the years. Think I'll start with my bedroom this weekend. Don't want to end up on some reality show - LOL.

Thanks, SK & Gwen, both of you always are ALWAYS supportive...True,BB...your perspective and WIT are a BIG booster...LOL...I dare say MOST of US in our 60's and even younger...HAVE filled their closets, garages, attics, basements and/or "spare" bedrooms with a lot of STUFF we no longer need...some have suggested we have a YARD SALE...but I tell them...NOBODY else would place ANY value on our boxes full of papers that are MOSTLY "just OUR MEMORIES"...but my wife SAYS and SHE IS RIGHT...lol..(since she will NOT see this I will HAVE to tell her...LOL) UNLESS WE WANT OUR KIDS TO "HATE" US (really HATE our ACCUMULATION)...when we are gone..WE need to be the ONES to CLEAN UP 36 years worth of accumulation...LOL) (AND they could ALREADY do a REALITY SHOW at OUR HOUSE)LOL

Burning the elbow grease this weekend will help in recording Monday's weigh in. Remember pushing that broom or washing those windows is exercise. I've been told that maybe burning calories from a different muscle group increases weight loss more than normal.

I agree with what everyone has said. We all know by now that the scale is not the "be all, end all". Regardless of what it says you keep doin' what you're doin'!

In my last visit with the VA weight loss physician, she told me that losing weight like you have been doing is not very natural. After months of consecutive large amounts of weight loss the body will try to rebound even if you keep restricting your food intake. Your body wants to prevent you from losing too much and starts to compensate by going into a starvation mode and metabolism will slow down. She told me that everyone who has lost weight like me and you, especially people who have had gastric weight loss surgery, will go through some periods of weight gain after excessive weight loss. I have had some weeks of only losing a pound when I should have lost much more with all the walking and activity I was doing so I was prepared for some plateau or even weight gain. Don't be discouraged because it is our bodies responding to rapid weight loss.

Thanks SG...Your words are so encouraging...but just thinking aloud...If I "toss my scale"...(or ask one of you to do it)...Isn't that sort of like selling my car BECAUSE I got a speeding ticket??? LOL
15 May 15 by member: SuccessThisTime58
ABSOLUTELY!!!! EXCELLENT point!!!!...Funny thing...I got 5 tickets in 6 years...then I got married AND have not had one since...in. 36 years (Although I have deserved some)...I would say DW IS a very STABILIZING Influence!!! Have a Wonderful Saturday!!!

I just love your comment about selling the car because you got a speeding ticket. I know I've been guilty of blaming the scale when the blame actually lies with me. Of course it is a human tendency to want to blame something (or someone) else.

That is true, Buffy...BUT I WOULD also say that for MOST of Us, our gentle teasing about "the scale" is a positive use of Humor and not a serious attempt to "evade" responsibility. And you are one of the BEST at bringing some humor to our ongoing struggle. THANKS Buddy!!!!

It is hard, but don't let it OWN you...you are doing great buddy! Also good luck with the visit! I know how that feels, the in-laws will be here on Tuesday for 2 weeks! I can't wait to see them but the cooking and cleaning are stressful. I spent 4 hours today making 20 freezer meals so they won't have to cook while I am sleeping :)

This is from a PM, but something that needs to be said publicly - you are one of the most encouraging FS Buddies ever. How on earth you think anyone would take offense at what you write is beyond me. Now stop worrying about anything and have some fun with your family!

Have fun with your visit. As I said to someone else today its important to enjoy life and family most of all.
