Some progress pics of my back. The top was my first pic, not day 1 but day 15 after I lost 5 pounds already. So, it is exactly 20lbs down in bottom pic. It doesn't appear that I have lost muscle back there. I did lose 2.5" when I take a chest/back measurement. Hopefully, most of it was fat.

Think I might get stuck spinning my wheels for the next month. Weight might not go down since I started lifting a few weeks ago.

Thanks! I think the fat was being pulled from my back the last couple of weeks. Hopefully it starts taking some more from up front. If it doesn't, I'm still switching to bulk mode come December. I'm so over cutting. 🤨

I'm trying, Shrewdness. I have to work around some old injuries and arthritis in the shoulders. I've begun to push myself again on certain movements that are more comfortable. Hammer Strength equipment seems to put less stress on my shoulders compared to free weights. I like my dumbbell presses but it hurts too much to get the weights into position.

If you big guys have any suggestions to build this back, it is welcome. I'm sure doing DLs would help. I'm still not comfortable with them and don't want to get injured. I mainly do rows and pulldowns.

I deffintly don't qualify as a big guy and think we need to take back building advice from you but if it's deadlifts uour interested in but nervous about at the same time have you tried it recently with a hex/trap bar instead I switched completely over to the hex bar when I was dealing with elbow pain and I'm never going back I've had so mamy lower back problems over the years and traditional heavy deadlifts aren't worth it to me now.

I haven't tried a Hex bar. Sumo pulls look weird but I might try it out. Seems like it is popular for those with longer legs. Diablo, Supergainz & Pain are much larger and put up some good numbers. You and I need to play catch up.

Lol from the looks of it you are bigger than I am tud! 168 at that bf. But I will say this about deads, it’s an unpopular opinion. Don’t be scared to bend the spine. The important concept is brace and engagement. Let your spine do what it feels natural. I use to be so scared of bending my spine that I was slightly arching it to make certain I wasn’t bending and everytime it ended with a sciatic like pain that shoots from my left butt area and tail bone. And I could never get to 300lbs. Everytime I get close that pain would arise. Till I started lifting it how it felt natural, and I started it with 85lbs. Felt the whole line of the spinal erectors on fire. I’ve got no back pain now and not looking back. Also foam rolling your back after deads helps your recover like 3x fast
