Happy Monday!

I had a lovely weekend. Saturday we loaned our home and pool to DIL#5's family for a birthday party. GoodMan worked outside with the leaf blower and I finished staining room 203 so we could stay out of their way while still getting work done around the lodge. My next project is to get the main floor guest bathroom stained before Thanksgiving. [I'm afraid I'm making the house seem much larger than it really is...it is a log cabin in the woods that we call the "Great Hewer Lodge", a tongue-in-cheek comparison to The Great Wolf Lodge. We used to take the whole family to the GWL every February for a weekend getaway. Since we bought the log cabin which has an enclosed 3 season pool we don't go to GWL and tell the grandkids we have our own Great Hewer Lodge!]

Thanksgiving has just become an even bigger project for me. Since we have 5 sons we have always told our guys and their wives that they can have the holidays with their own families or their wives families. We love having everyone over, but we can plan our holiday celebrations on the weekend before, or after, or on some other date that works for them. (I never liked the idea of my guys having to choose between us and their own wives or making their own family traditions). For the past 10 years or so our guys have spent the weekend after Thanksgiving with us. They enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with their in-laws and come to our house on Friday and spend the weekend. Well this year one-by-one I kept hearing my sons and their families didn't have plans. I sent out an email asking if I was to make a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday at 4pm who would show up?...So now I'll have 24 people for dinner and 23 of them will be staying for the whole weekend! This will be my first New Lifestyle Thanksgiving. So the challenge is on...I've got a week or so to figure out a menu plan for the whole weekend. Actually, we do these weekends a few times a year - but Thanksgiving just has so many FOOD EXPECTATIONS!

I took Sunday off from my exercise bike in order to give my body a rest. Today I plan to ride 80 minutes/20 miles and then walk around the grocery store. Tomorrow I plan to take a meal to a couple from our church. She has pneumonia and he just had knee replacement. An adult son flew home to take care of them, but he doesn't cook. I think I'll make a beef stew and crusty bread. Last night we got about 4 inches of snow and the forecast calls for another 4 - so stew sounds hearty and cozy.

Make your Monday motivational!

There is a time I don't come by fatsecret. Today I was reading your post and loved it. Thanks for sharing. I'm Brazilian and I really learned a lot of words with you! I just couldn't understand "GWL", but I will google it later. It looks like it's going to be the best Thanksgiving ever!!! Congrats!

Taistak ~ GWL is short for Great Wolf Lodge. Thanks for your support!
