Well,I'm Back! (11:27) I can't really say if I hit my aim or not because there were yard sales along my route today & altho I pushed myself not to stop at all of them I did "stop" at 1 as I continued marching & purchased a back brace :) In GREAT condition(looks NEW) for a buck :) I think even if I *didn't* hit my goal of 1 1/2 miles in 30 min's because of my "stop" I wont feel bad.It was a purchase needed & I didn't forego the things I must do in order to reach my weight loss goals. Points for me!!! :)

A goal is just a point to strive for. There is no pass or fail about the process of adding healthy practices to your life. Just doing things, determining if you want more of those things and adjusting from time to time. This is all a process not pass or fail. You are in the thick of it now. :) J

Thanks J :) I'm working on recognizing statements that I make that could very well be holding me back from the lifestyle I'm trying to live daily. While I seem to be able to quickly recognize them when others say them I don't always catch them from myself. I appreciate greatly you pointing it out to me & for others to see it as well. Somee of my favorite quotes:Action follows thought.* What we speak about we bring about.*You are what you think you are.* It's very important we listen to what we think. To what we believe. To what we say. Because, regardless if it's our intention, that IS what we become. Thanks again! :)

JovialJ said it best. It was a great reminder for me that there is no pass or fail ... it's a journey and we evolve through it as we make decisions and adjustments.

Nice JoviaJ, I just realized a day or so ago that I was looking at mine like that, simply a process, no need to get emotional about it, it takes some of the pressure off and keeps you from browbeating and bullying yourself. If this was a task given to you at work you would prioritize it, streamline it and simply start doing it each day with no emotions or guilt. I think we all have a tendency to apply grace to others and then we forget to give it to ourselves!

I love yard sales; you did far better than I would just stopping at one! Love a great find and it sounds like that brace was just that;)

You are so right about our thoughts driving our actions! I have to remind myself of that more & change the negative self-talk. Thanks for the great reminder! xoxox

I just reread what I posted this morning & everyone else's comments as well. I would like to say that I apparently didn't read what JOVIAL J replied to me *accurately* & I think as a result my comment gave others a wrong "reading" too. So I want to correct that. I agree with J that "A goal is a point to strive for. There is no pass or fail in the process." That is why I use the word "aim" (to direct ones efforts).Perhaps my saying "that even if I didn't hit my goal (an area, object or mark set for one to direct their efforts or reach) I wont feel bad", gave an impression of failure, but that is not at all what I meant to convey as you can obviously tell by my comment back to J. that "I didn't forego the things I must do in order to reach my weight loss goals.Points for me!!!" But I would like to add that the whole point of having a goal,*for me*, IS to reach it. Then I'll set another goal (to reach). For again *me*,THAT is the process that I "am in the thick of." :) As in archery not hitting the mark aimed for doesn't mean a failure nor does hitting the mark mean a pass. It's more to do with our aim. When we miss the mark (& I don't think I did,but IF I did) it means I didn't do what I needed to do. As actually hitting the mark means I did. And in the context of what I was referring to,I *did* AIM as *I* should have....the miles in a set time frame may have been the target but falling short of that was in no way a miss...."I didn't forego the things I must do in order to reach my weight loss goals." I'm sorry for any confusion. Thanks for letting me clear this up :)
