12 days in Italy. Fab food. Stood on the scales this morning with a sense of dread. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be; just 0.6kg heavier. I will easily shift that through cycling to work next week. First task of the day, moving logs to the log store ready for winter (goodbye summer clothes) then planning out some healthy meals (no more pasta, pizza and beer for awhile ... I will miss you!x)

I'm trying to convince myself it would be a good idea to join Manchester Triathlon Club over the winter. Benefits: chance to get some regular, guided swimming practice with a view to improving my speed and technique; sessions on core strength and fitness and if I can face it track running sessions and indoor bike sessions. So why don't I just sign up? Afraid I'll be really slow; will have the face of a purple prune during sessions and that it will be full on competitive. Need to get a grip!

Winter approaches and I need to set out some new goals or I'll slip back into old ways:

1) Join Manchester Tri and aim to do at least 2 sessions per week (swimming and core strength to start)

2) Get useful husband to adjust my bike to try and limit problem with my shoulder and continue to cycle to work (aim for no less than 3 times per week ... do not let cold, dark and cold put me off)

3) Go back to ukulele club and join in with any performances they do (try to chat more with people this time around)

4) Get Spanish level tested at Instituta Cervantes and then sign up for a course

5) Put a set time aside each week for playing/writing and playing music

6) Stick to new house rule of no booze in the house unless we have guests

I hereby promise not to spend every night sitting in front of the TV burning my beautifully seasoned logs and drinking real ale. Life is a pomegranate not a plum.
