NowIunderstand's Journal, 08 July 2014

I was doing the happy dance at Lowblaws yesterday.

I took my BP and the results were eye popping.

114/75! I couldn't believe it. Athough, this gnawing feeling that from one BP machine to the next, readings may be very different.

But, I'll pretend that its true.

114/85 for my bmi, (I too am short) age and weight!!! 5'2, 170 LBS and wearing it all in front, nothing in the back.

Wonder if it's the cereal I eat every day. All Bran. I know that certain cereals make the claim to reduce BP.

To look at my food diary, it's the most boring thing. But I like what I eat, even if it's day in and day out with not much variety. It tastes good to me, I'm satiated and it's healthy so that's what counts.

Have a great day.

Weight loss alone will bring the bp down. Considering getting a little digi one where you can take it at home and keep track.

The first thing I would zero in on on my food intake, in fact if you have not already, track "sodium." The average person is not suppose to have more than 2500mg in a day. Try cutting it back to 2000mg and see how it does for a week. If B/P still running high, switch from salt and just you seasoning to help give your food flavors. You will still find that without using table salt, that you will see that you are still getting your salt from the various foods you eat throughout the day. And as ClassicRocker says, weight plays a "major" part in our B/P. Feel better and stay focused.

I probably wasn't very clear. My BP is excellent. I almost did the Happy Dance on site.
