Recommended Daily Intake
Now that I have reached maintenance mode, I have done a bit of reading and what I found surprised me. Here are the numbers according to the USDA calculator:
Recommended % for maintenance in carbs, fat, protein:
By kcal: 59, 29, 12 By weight: 71, 15, 14
So yes, they recommend twice as many calories from fat than from proteins, same in weight.
The circular plot on FS is by kcal, count 4 kcal/g for carbs and protein, 9 kcal/g for fat.
These are rough guidelines for an average adult, which in my case means couch-potato. You will find links to references on my profile. Before anyone goes up in arms, I am totally buzz-word and diet agnostic. I want to be able to eat all types of food when I feel like it, just trying to find a somewhat reasonable way.
