I have mixed feelings about this weekend...my diet went out the window but I went to two fabulous restaurants (and a wine bar) and tried Lebanese food for the first time! At the Lebanese restaurant, we made the mistake of ordering a 'turnover sampler'...which consisted of various deep-fried savory pastries. That, along with the shankleesh? (Lebanese yogurt cheese), hummus and the freshly baked flatbread, had me full before my virtuous entrée of Shrimp kebab with steamed vegetables even arrived at the table. After dinner, we walked across the street to a wine bar that my man's employer owns, and tasted a few wines. We got some free dessert, Chocolate truffles, and since they were free I had to eat them (although I did NOT have to eat THREE of them...naughty naughty). Last night, we celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday at a great Argentine place. I couldn't resist a delicious (but unfortunately, deep-fried) chicken empanada to start. I had a seafood pasta dish with tomato sauce, filled up on all of the seafood and only took a few bites of the pasta. I even made a good choice when it came to dessert, a baked pear in red wine syrup. Aside from all of that, I had a very snack-y weekend. A few cookies here, a few more cookies there, and even a...dare I say it...Snickers bar! This is always my biggest issue, the raging sweet tooth that I have had since birth and I am constantly struggling to curb! As I write, I am remembering how delicious that forbidden Snickers was! Can I be helped??? EEEK
