debbra's Journal, 02 February 2009

Monday February 2, 2009: It's 12:20 P.M. I just went 5.48 miles for 90 minutes on my treadmill at 3.6 mph at level 6 incline with about half the time at 3.7 mph at level 7 incline. I'm feeling good. I started a new challenge, a Boot Camp challenge, that I think will be good for me. I feel lighter. My clothes feel looser. The scale still reads that I'm maintaining or even just a smidgen higher than I was yesterday. But I really think I've lost. I can feel it. So I'm feeling pretty energized.

I think that the last couple of weeks of not doing so well were pretty much from some virus that I'm finally feeling over. It gave me a bad mood, made me hate the feeling of exercise, and made me eat too much. I want to remember in the future that, if I feel that way, to ignore it because it's just some bug and it will go away. I'll update later.

Update: I'm updating this on Tuesday morning. Lat night I felt like having peanut butter. So I took a couple of heaping spoonfuls in a cup, added a little walnut oil, and boy, was it delicious. I ate it with a spoon. Now, I'm not going to give myself a blue star for Monday because of that (I put a small orange star because the day was not terrible.) But I was really surprised that, even though my points went pretty high, my calories did not go up as much. I still had a deficit. So we'll see how it affects me for the week. I still feel pretty light and good. In fact, I was sure I had lost weight this morning. But the scale says I maintained. So I'm still feeling pretty good and energized. I'm looking forward for today. I'll write a journal entry for Tuesday a little later on in the day. I'm off now to treadmill.

Hope my FS family is having a great day!!!!!

Fab job on the exercise front! Woohoo! I've got a "bug" that puts me in a bad mood, makes me hate exercise and eat too much, too. It's called perimenopause! Ugggh. Gotta love them crazy mixed up hormones. But the mind/body connection is something to watch out for, to be sure. When we don't feel right mentally, our bodies follow suit and vice versa. Good job recognizing the pattern in yourself. That's the first step =D

You have a great attitude. I am an inces-loser so I sometimes lose "girth" but not weight. I highly recommend measuring yourself at least once a month to see if you have lost inches, especially with all the exercise you do. :) Great job!

Thanks debbra for the words of encouragement. You are totally right I just need to focus on tommorrow. Let's totally do it together and motivate each other! Awesome job with the working out and your looser fitting clothes! Keep up the great work!

Debbra, I have to say that I am a bit discouraged at times also. I do 1 hour 30 min of cardio plus 30 min or yesterday I did 45 min of other exercises:-- always trying to mix it up-- (push ups sit ups every day) but, I also try squats/ upper body/ other lower body/ that pull up bar thing... etc... and my scale does not change. But when I look in the mirror I see a little tiny difference in my stomach (my biggest area of disappointment on my body) and my arms are starting to get "guns". So, what I am saying is... although the scale can bring you down (I know my scale puts me off) there is progress being made. All the hard work is doing something! I have not been brave enough to measure myself yet, but maybe sararay has a point that it is time to do so. Good luck, and keep it up no matter how hard it gets.

Looser fitting clothes means you are losing inches even though the scale does not show it. Keep it up, you are doing great.
