mardee57's Journal, 10 January 2014

Well today is exactly one month since I started my personal challenge of a liquid fast. From December 10th 2013 to January 10th, 2014 I have lost 15 pounds. How is it that that I can gain 4 or 5 pounds in a weekend and it takes me 4 weeks to lose 15!

You would think that when one is having their binge moments the reality would hit them that they are going to have to really work hard to get those pounds back off. But no such reality check ever comes my way, I just have to suck it up and start changing the way I was eating.

I digress, so I am currently on my second FS challenge of a Smoothie and Juice Fast to keep up the pace but next week I am taking a 6-Week FS Challenge and doing the Eat to Live diet. I have resigned myself that falling off the wagon is like playing Roulette with your health.

Is it impossible to say NO to every single craving I will have for "bad" food i.e "Fried Chicken Gizzards?" I don't know, and the idioms like one day at a time and don't put the cart before the horse will have to be in the forefront of my mind when these challenges arise.

Although I don't have a physical FS buddy having all of you in FS Land is such an encouragement and a greatly appreciated platform on this journey...

hang in there. I did the juice thing too and felt great but then I looked at the carbs in one apple beet carrot juice--holy cow. But you sound like you are getting great results! Congratulations!!!

are you not afraid of yo-yo effect? I wonder how do you come back to a "normal" food after so long time of liquid ... just curious Good luck to your journey!

Hi Chef - I find there to be a notable difference in carbs that come from raw organic food than that of processed. I feel great and because I haven't lost too quickly I feel that the juice and nutritional shakes I am drinking are healthy and balanced. Next week I am starting the Eat to Live plan. I started a FS challenge if you'd care to join us!! Continued success to you and your journey! Blessings...

Hi Berolina - Sorry dear but I don't buy into the yo-yo dieting thing... For me I have fought my weight for 40 years what else is there, unless, one day you have a Revelation and realize that when they say lifestyle change that is in fact what they mean. As long as you're supplying your body with the needed nutrients from quality non-gmo, organic and fresh ingredients I don't think the body knows that you are drinking or eating your food. If you are at all interested, my bio has a lot of the details of what I am doing to pursue optimal health. Thank you for your question and in short I will start with an organic banana to break my liquid fast. Blessings!!

Hi Mardee! I know what you mean about the processed crap but I'm a Breville juicing girl. One apple, one beet, one carrot per day juiced in the morning by me eats up all or nearly all of my carbs for the day. My dr has me on forty a day till I can get to my goal, which is very sad considering the pastry chef thing that I do. Not to mention my love of all things starchy.

Makitiwil, Thank you, you too are a great inspiration! It takes so much time to keep up with the juicing but it will be worth it! I feel very energized! I am looking forward to eating on the Eat to Live plan next week! It will have been 37 days on juice, I'm so ready for a salad! Keep up the excellent work and many blessings to you!

Hi Karen, I'm with you even when I am not doing these challenges I drink a fresh organic veggie cocktail everyday. Mine has a few more ingredients: Carrot, Parsley, Cilantro, Kale, Cucumber, Apple, Lemon, Garlic, Jalapeño, and Ginger Root. I actually have a Breville too but I use my Omega masticating juicer I like it because my pulp comes out nearly dry. I also juice the entire lemon so I get the added nutrients from the peel, same with the ginger... It's a time intensive endeavor but worth it for optimal health. Blessings and good health!
