So my rdi is 2400. Anyone familiar with rdi and can share their experience with them using that method for weight loss?

Hi Britnii my RDI is 2700 my starting weight was 257 now I am hanging between 240-243 so if you eat the rdi you lose weight but in low amounts. lets say 200-300 below your RDI and the weight loss is greater. so it actually works I loss 17lbs in about 3weeks walking 45 mins 4 to 5 days a week.hope that that was informative.

I am using the Mifflin-St. Jeor equation for calculating my calorie intake. There are some quick and easy calculators to be found online.

I do. Same as Jim, I use RDI to track food intake and expect weight loss at a very slow pace. It is a good way to just enjoy and educate yourself about the relation of food intake to weight as well as making right food choice like I would rather have meat with veggies to get myself full than waste my food intake allowance on soda and chips. I put my RDI computation on sedentary lifestyle so no matter how minimal my excercise is, it will have an effect (the only pain though is my food allowance for the day is really low :/)

My doc but me on a 1500. I am at 284 lbs now and was 294 when I seen my doctor middle of June. I think he will be pretty impressed when I go back to see him July 11th. I will also get some blood work done for my magnesium level.

If I ate my RDI I would never lose weight. I eat about 75% of it each day and I maybe lose a pound a week. I have activity set at minimal and I am far more active then that. I usually have a net kcal of at least -350 even if it register just sleeping and resting.

The RDI is the 'recommended daily intake'. I am eating to that number (sometimes going over) and eating much lower two days a week 5:2 diet. It is working so far! I go to the diet calendar and use that to help me stay on task.
