Leslycat's Journal, 15 February 2017

wow today I learned that eating home cooked chicken and veggie soup is probably not the best thing to do on this diet. Carrots have carbs, onions do too, so does the celery lol. So I ate it because I was feeling lazy, lazy eating is no good....... Tomorrow is another day and well, I must say I used to think I'd lose weight eating home made chicken and veggie soup. So now to eat a couple of fat bombs to bump up my fat intake for the day, hope that helps balance out this day. Tomorrow is a new day. Trial and error but I'll get there. Still feeling pretty good, brain fog from sugar and carbs has lifted so thats a good thing.

There are other lower carb veggies you can add, with smaller amounts of the ones you mentioned. Include the chicken skins when you make the broth, and be sure not to skim the fat off the soup. Don't give up on soup!

I buy frozen mirepoix (mix of onions, celery, and carrots) and measure it out. It's already chopped and I know the exact total of carbs it adds to my soups. I would miss the taste of them otherwise. Instead of noodles I use cabbage (at least in my chicken soup). It adds fiber and some extra veggie goodness. Plus I just missed the noodles and it works. I also now add bacon to my chicken soup to up the fats.
