ny_shelly's Journal, 29 November 2016

Hi everyone,
I was at my parents' house all last week and did well over Thanksgiving. I did 36 hour fasts on Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (day after Thanksgiving). I thought I lost 3 pounds.

Then Sunday came. I did OK all day but then binged out on the way back home. Then yesterday I tried to stay on track but I had to go visit some family friends whose husband just passed away and afterwards I ate badly again.

I need to get a grip. So today instead of fasting 36 hours I ate breakfast and I will fast the rest of the day. I am going to switch to 24 hour fasts until I can get my eating under control again. Then I will switch back.

It is just a roadbump in a long journey so I am not going to beat myself up.

The reason I fast is not to lose weight, it is to get rid of my diabetes.

Wow, 36 hour fasts are too long for me I think. I do 24 sometimes. Good luck getting back on track. You can do it!

I do 16:8 and have completed one 24 hour fast. I know what you mean after fasting, it's hard not to let yourself go a bit wild. I have a lot of admiration that you can fast several times a week. I'm working on getting there. Any tips for success?

Congrats on eating as well as you did. I was not as successful over Thanksgiving. Your have the right mindset (i.e. "roadbump"). You have done well, now just get back to it. Good luck and keep it going.

Thanksgiving and traveling - these make things tricky. Give yourself a break, moderate, get back on track. There's no rush. You are doing marvelously over the big picture.

Wow the longest I've ever fasted was three days. ( But I had the flu and every time I tried to eat I threw up.) Good luck buddy!

Thanks everyone! @Fraidycat - One thing that makes fasting easier for me is having a supply of homemade bone broth. I make chicken bone broth on sunday and have it for the whole week.

I do 20:4 but would like to do at least one 36 a week. On my own I'm sure I could but my husband makes it hard.
