The more you eat and the more badly you eat, the more you want to eat and the more badly you want to eat.

Not my most grammatically correct observation but I'm tired. My body is tired from hours of sitting in hospital chairs. My brain is tired from hours of anxious waiting and worrying. Over the last 3 days I've made bad food choices from lack of sleep and a sense of "fuck it" that comes from using food as a comfort blanket. I promised myself I won't do that today.

My partner is out of surgery and getting better. I need to take better care of myself for both of us. Meditation, rest, reflection and fasting to get back some clarity for the rest of the week.

Good morning ty for posting. Im feeling exactly what you shared. Dad was operated on last week cervical laminectomy. Running back and forth to the hospital now the rehab takes a toll. Been a week of poor eating mostly stress eating as I chose to make poor choices seeming more hungrier than usual and suddenly gave myself a I dont care attitude. Lack of sleep can do that. Why we do it we shall never know. Now that the worst is over for you and your partner is time to regroup and you can do this its good to have a plan.

😟 Food as comfort ends up betraying us and we wind up more burdened hormonally, which leads to physical inflammation, mental fog, mood issues. The initial sedative effect is welcome, though, and needed in times of great stress. I only know a very tiny bit of what you are going through. It sounds like there has been a lot of uncertainty. That is the worst. Not knowing, speculating, then the anger, sadness. There are so many legitimate reasons to feel crappy and the Snickers/Lays hangover just makes it worse (just guessing based on my knowledge of hospital vending machines). {{{{{HUG}}}} You will find that fasting gives you clarity of thought and breaks the dependence on food. Drink your coffee and tea. The hunger pangs are brief and manageable. This is a good decision you are making for yourself that will make you stronger.
