Sarah1950's Journal, 21 June 2016

I've been away for a few days. My oldest and dearest friend came for a visit. We shared some real quality time at my pool and had a gabfest like none other. It's a real testimony to my belief system that I am loved on so many levels. My relatives have to love me, (even when they hate me for some reason or other) . Same with husband and children etc. but friendship for 48 years with another woman is remarkable. I can see now my compulsive behavior with my friendship. A type of hoarding. If I could, I would wrap her up and keep her in a drawer, to pull out like a warm sweater when needed. As always, I was glad when she left so my life can return to my set routine. I Always know she is just a phone call away.

I didn't do great on my diet this week, for losing weight. I just finished the "12 in 28 day challenge" so I didn't expect much drop anyway, even though I did some extra heavy yard work. I tried to add back in some higher carb veggies. Beets, carrots and avocado, and tomatoes. Oh well, stayed the same this week. I was struggling with cravings this past week too. I did eat some chocolate. I did it purposefully...was sorry immediately, and hope I can remember that it did not solve anything once eaten. I still want the sugar etc that I've chosen to avoid/resist. My next step is to have a fish week again, and back to <20 carbs.

BTW: Avocados are still FODMAP issue for me. I'm so sorry b/c I really like eating them. I Kind of like being a food snob, oops, I mean connoisseur.

I have trouble with avocados also. I only get one if there's someone else around to eat it, because I can only have 1/4-1/3 of one every few days. More than that, and I have trouble. I eat chocolate every single day. It's 72-85% cacao, very unsweet, and very healthy. So if you can get yourself into a dark chocolate habit, with very little sugar involved, you can indulge yourself and take advantage of the good fat and other healthy components. P.S. My best girlfriend of 30+ years will be here from France in 2 weeks, so I know what you're talking about...

I might consider adding chocolate later on, but for now, I'll try to stay away. Even after six months, I'm just a mouthful away from a binge. I'll have to do work in that area, but for now, I need to avoid. As for the avocados, I think I'll try 1/4 over 4 days. See how that works. They do fill me up.

How wonderful to have a close friend like that. I guess my little cousin is my dearest friend and I haven't seen her for years and years. I just noticed we are the same age and almost the same weight ... and you are doing so much better than I am in the food area. Even when you believe your vegetables are high carb ... they are still whole foods. Well done!
