So, I'm done wallowing in self pity and have put on my big girl panties (medium girl sounds better). I've been thinking about what might have triggered my downward spiral into eating. When I got within 9 lbs of goal I decided to try to start eating a little more carbs. I've read how some people on here eat a few berries, I've seen some people that eat sugar free jello with whipped cream, for example. It would seem these foods really triggered my love of sweets. I was not able to handle it. It was very hard to limit the fruit after finally having some. I would want to have 2-3 jellos, throw some fruit in, YUM! Now when I look back it becomes so obvious, but in the moment I felt so out of control. It is possible there are some foods I will NEVER be able to eat without causing cravings. Maybe they are foods I can eat when out once in awhile but not keep in the house. And so the journey continues.....

I know what you mean about things triggering sweets. If sweets were your downfall before, then most definitely don't eat them until after you reach goal. The sugar free stuff, like jello, has Splenda or Aspartame in it, depending on if it is the snack cups or the boxed mix. The body might still treat that as sugar. It can also trigger an inflammation. Who knows but we are all different. Do what you know works for you.

Wow! You and I share the same epiphany! The idea of "never" eating certain foods (blueberries are that trigger for me!) feels so harsh, and yet, I find it far more reasonable if I accept that the other option is "never" meeting my weight and physical health goals. "Which is more important?" is what I ask myself in the moment. NOT easy, but one means of monitoring choices. Working on it one craving at a time.

Funny thing is, I was more of a bread/pasta/potato person. BUT I'm so scared of them as I know how out of control I feel when eating them. It seems sugar is the same way for me. Even "healthy" sugars like fruit. Just one more piece of the puzzle....
