Pearson16's Journal, 04 February 2016

I just got home from a night out with my little sister and the entire way I was talking myself out of getting fast food. I didn't get to eat what I was craving tonight but I did stay within my calories even though it was unhealthy food. It was SO hard to drive straight home and then restrain myself from rummaging through the house for snacks but I am proud to say that I did it.

Baby steps... Rome wasn't built in a day...

Fridays are my weigh in days and since today was my first day back tomorrow will likely not show much, if any, progress but I'm still going to weigh in.

Have you decided on a weight loss strategy? Snacking should be on your list of things to eliminate.

It is. It's not an easy thing to accomplish when you're a binge eater. Like I said, baby steps.

I was a binge eater, too. A box of pop tarts and a pot of coffee was my wake up snack, followed by breakfast, a box of Little Debbie Strawberry Rolls and a half gallon of milk. A couple of hours later (felt like an eternity), I'd finally eat all the leftovers from the night before, typically pizza, burgers, chinese takeout, something like that, and so on and on and on all day. Miserable way to live.

Great job resisting the snack cravings and not stopping to pick up something naughty on the way home!

I agree, philmck. My weakness is fast food. I'd order enough food for 3 people and eat it hidden away from my family. I don't have a huge sweet tooth, I prefer savory things so a huge dinner could easily be followed by a bag of chips. Isn't it funny how you can feel awful all the while you're eating all that junk and yet you still continue to eat it?

Its a signal your body is out of balance when you continue to eat when you are full...I have done it too...eat,eat,eat ...The more carbs you eat, the more you want...I used to have to go out and replace the food (bread or ice cream or cookies) that I would consume that I bought for the entire family...I haven't binged in years...when I find myself eating uncontrollably, I usually fast for a day or just eat protein for a day and that seems to help me.

When you go for a night out have a small nutritious meal waiting for you at home, It will make those late night fast food drive bys a little easier

Eating protein for a day to get back on track sounds like a good idea and I'll keep that in mind the next time I accidentally fall off the wagon (I'm realistic in anticipating that it will happen sooner or later until I fully get in the swing of things) - thank you!
