izzypup68's Journal, 09 July 2015

We are going hiking with friends later today, so I am up at my normal early hour, but not at the gym. I am baking banana bread instead--one of the few sweet treats I still allow myself to bake these days!

I think success breeds success. Last night, I was thinking I could celebrate not only getting that miserly scale to budge more than an ounce, but a shopping trip for smaller sized shorts. My mind immediately turned to pizza, but, with less effort than usual, I readjusted my celebratory expectations and opted for cooking up a feast of Thai food at home. We had chicken satay, vegetables in curry sauce and brown rice. It was delicious and, even though I ate a little more than I should have, it was healthy and didn't do the damage that eating too much pizza would have done.

We leave for vacation on Monday and I have been thinking a lot about how to continue to progress while away from home. I will take every opportunity for exercise I can find, although I am not used to the Houston heat and humidity. I will make sure I drink plenty of water (as opposed to Shiner Bock!). But, most of all, I will just make the best choices I can everyday. Isn't it amazing how attitude makes so much difference? I am approaching this with much more determination that I did our previous trip. I have gotten so close to my goal that I just don't want to stop now. Progress has been slow these past few weeks, but I am unwilling to backslide. At the very least, I want to maintain, but I would love to go down a pound or two while I am there. I know I can do it if I just keep my mind in the right place.

Have a fantastic Thursday, my FS friends!

My go to when I crave pizza is slices of Ezekiel bread with a light layer of grassfed butter (or low sugar marinara sauce), covered with turkey pepperoni or regular, and mozzarella cheese broiled for 5-7 minutes (depending on how I like my cheese melted). It usually saves me from myself and it's low carb enough to avoid the guilt. Great outlook, enjoy your vacation!
