Cooked up the yak meat. For those who asked, it tastes like beef, just gamier, which is what I expected. Going to use some in a big pot of bean soup I'm cooking up, and freeze the rest for later. Doubt I'll buy it again, but it was an experiment

I cannot remain silent on this one.😟 Are we taking a mini-break, or was the WFPB diet too difficult to sustain? (I realize that the yak is a whole food.) Just checking in because this is a drastic change, even for the occasional pescatarian.

I'd call it an experiment, JustBananas 😊 I wanted to play around with having small amounts of animal foods back in my diet, going a little more Mediterranean. was a 1.1 pound package. I put about 1/3 of it in a big pot of bean soup that my husband and I will get at least 2 meals out of. The rest I divided up into 2 containers and froze for later. Wouldn't surprise me if it takes us at least a month, maybe 2 to go through it. We tend to have meat as a flavoring agent when we eat it, not as a main dish. This was locally produced and grass fed, so I felt good about how it was produced. I've decided to let eggs back in my life, too, although I'm still shying from dairy. I still plan to make the vast majority of my diet plant based. Hope I haven't disappointed you too much 😉

superman, it's been years and years since I've had venison, but I think maybe yes. It's supposed to have a better nutritional profile and a smaller carbon footprint than beef. At least, that's what the very nice folks at the farmers market said. Wifeski -- it was indeed better in the soup!

curious how much did it cost for the 1.1 package

otb -- I think it was $12 a pound, as I recall. Spendy, yeah, but we'll get multiple meals out of it. Neither one of us is into having a giant hunk o'meat at a meal
