dealaw's Journal, 19 June 2009

One of the things I like most about this web is our ability to share our secrets about the problems we associate with our weights. Yesterday I got a letter in the mail from our insurance company that struck fear into me. They are notifying me that unless they get some more information from my doctors, the requested Gastric Bypass/Roux-En-Y (also called the RNY) will be denied. It's because it's one more piece of the administrative procedure that could cause this to fail, I get nervous. When I get nervous, I start accusing "them" (who ever they are) of mistreating me. Of course it's not my fault they don't have this and I go nuts...

Here in this web site, I am not afraid to tell you what's griping me. The result is I feel as if I am getting hold of my temper, which means I am handling my fear (real or not) which means less stress, etcetera. Since I've given myself a cool down, I've googled the words TSH Level and realized, Hey! I've already done this blood test boys and girls. Let's get on with the show.

Why am I going for the RNY? For me, (and everyone is different at this point), my research indicates that 80% of all diabetes using Gastric Bypass, eventually put their diabetes into remission. They have too because they literally don't have the stomach any longer to go about the good old days. For me again, the RNY procedure is a tool I can use to change an entire lifestyle based mostly on meat and potatoes. I heard someone once call that the Nebraska attitude, although I've been to Lincoln, it could be anywhere in the USA. In this journal and through this blog, I intend to communicate how I am progressing as honestly as I can, so that we can--I can do better.
Thanks for reading this entry.
