For various reasons -- health, environment, but mostly preference -- I am moving more and more to a mostly vegan diet. The difficulty I'm having this morning is that it just takes more effort on the cooking/prepping front. Sure, there are vegan convenience foods available, but I'm more opposed to processed foods in my diet than I am to animal foods. It doesn't help I'm struggling with depression again. This morning I'm just tired and feel low and don't want to go fix the big container of a rice and whole grain salad for lunch. I wanna order a sub and have it delivered even though it's expensive and not as healthy. It's not like I'm forcing myself to eat the salad -- I actually like it better. No, it's more like I'm forcing myself to make the effort to fix it. That's one of the things about changing up your diet -- convenience can go out the window, depending on your goals. If I don't fix food, I wander into a sea of SAD out in the world. I imagine it's the same for keto, paleo, you name it. I don't plan on being 100% strict about it. I believe in choices, not "cheats". Still, even adhering to it as much as I want takes effort I don't always feel like I have in me

Can anyone else relate?

Absolutely I can relate!! Depression is so odd. When I exercise and eat healthy I feel better, but when I sink into the sadness, though logically I know it doesn’t help, I grab for the easy, junky food and that makes the depression worse...

I've heard it said that depression is like you're sitting on the couch, and you know happiness is just up on the mantel across the room, but you can't seem to get up and walk across the room to retrieve it. Eventually, I did pull it together and pack lunch today!

YetAnotherAccount - you are so right! In my case, it takes medication, too. Managing depression definitely takes a multi pronged strategy
