I am in a catch 22
when I seem to be exersizing more I eat worse
and when I eat better I excersize less...
over all this week I have gained...
I find even though I am eating low carb foods
they are more processed like sausage and cheese
and I have been eating the atkins bars when I get hungry
and over all I have gained. I am not in ketosis either?
okay back to square one
starting tomorrow LOL

my best guess...since you are not logging your food daily...is lose the Atkins Bars. Eat a clean induction menu only, drink plenty of water, and walking should not be a hinderance to your overall losses. (there are fillers in sausage, and stuff in the bars that does affect some people...so I am not surprised you are not in ketosis...) plus you mentioned you aren't eating the best when you exercise. But that might be because of being out of ketosis actually. It makes you hungry, crave, and eat like older habits... Back to clean induction.

Agree- I'm not sure I have a problem with the bars and shakes (I will keep better track), but I agree, eat a healthy clean menu of foods. His book actually says NO DIET items (low fat/low carb/etc) The only thing diet you can have mostly is diet soda but obviously limit that. Also, I am unsure of your lifestyle, but your calories may be too high. I'm not trying to sound like some skinny you know what, but I find it very hard for me to eat that many calories. I started out at 1400 and played around with mine until I felt comfy @ 1100. So, who knows? If you're comfy where you are then stay there. But, I definitely didn't take the advice of the RDI calculator which had me @ 2200. That's just crazy to me. You are my first friend on here so let me know if you ever need me. I'm happy to help. I'm going to take a look at your food diary and see what it looks like too. You CAN do this!

Ok girl-I'm here again. Looking at your food journal from yesterday we got some things to fix dear if that's cool with you. First, REALLY try to log everyday it helps out SOOOO MUCH! Second, have you read all about Atkins? During Induction (which you can stay on for months if you want to), there is a MAX of 20 NET carbs a day. Out of these 20: 12-15 of those HAVE to come from veggies. So get to the grocery and stock up girlfriend. Does this all make sense? So, by looking at your diary from yesterday, I TRULY believe if you follow Atkins the correct way (I was doing it wrong at first too) the weight will come off. Just last week I lost 7 pounds in a week and that's NOT water weight. But for real, I am so eager to help people do this right because I know the agony of weightloss/gain and don't want anyone out in left field. Let me know if you need anything.

Sabrina, I am pasting the comment from your ASM forum on exercise: Hey, Sabrina. I just checked your food journal and while there aren't a lot of entries, there are a couple of things that jumped out...first I see that you are using the Atkin's bars. While they are tasty and convenient, they do cause some problems for some of us, the biggest being stalls in weight loss. And the spam is low in carbs, but really loaded with sodium, and can cause excessive water retention. The other thing is to make sure that you are drinking at the minimum 64 oz of water a day. I know, I know, lots of people say 1/2 your body weight, but in Dr. Atkins books he states, at least 64 ounces and preferably more, so if it is hard for you to get in 1/2 your body weight in oz, then aim for 64 and increase it as you are able. And last but certainly not least...be sure to record all your food, everyday. Logging food is the single best thing that you can do for your new lifestyle. Hope this helps a bit.

I tried Atkins once before and lost a ton of weight. As soon as I started eating carbs again though my weight came back and then some. I have heard this same story from others too. I guess my advice would be to be ready to stay on Atkins forever or learn to eat healthier once you come off. I was all about the all you can eat cheese meat and egg buffet for a while, but then I just had to have some carbs. I have since started just keeping an eye on my calories and found it much easier to stick with and while not as quick, just as effective. Good luck to you though. I hope you are successful and this gets you where you want to be. The reason I actually began the post was to share an Atkins recipe I used to make back when I was on the diet. Not sure how you feel about pork rinds, but I found some recipes online that involved crushed pork rinds, egg and cheese that I baked into something similar to pita bread. Actually, it wasn't too bad. Nice bread substitute. Again, good luck to you!

Sabrina, as long as you count them as one of your 3 art. sweetners for the day. Jason, you are so right....this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. We learn how to reintroduce carbs slowly and learn what our level is that we can live with, while not restarting the cravings, and the weight gain. It is not a meat eggs and cheese buffet, but a lifestyle that includes lots of veggies. Gonna have to check out that recipe, thanks!
