Day 21 Boot Camp

Don't Let the Perfect Ruin the Good" I gained a lb.

I am premenstrual-which explains a lot. Have almost gotten the sugar out of the diet but not completely. The chocolate is gone though. It's the ginger snaps! Have to have Spousal Unit hide them again.

Took Beast to vet. He has not been himself this week. He went in the pool twice during the night. I think he had a fever and was trying to cool off. Doing a fecal test to see if he has parasites. In meantime, I asked for an exam and xrays to see if he has arthritis. He is nine yrs old and a shepherd mix and big. The vet just called and asked me how long I've had him-since he was 4 mos. say I. Any trauma in his past?-says he. Apart from getting a horsetail up his nose, no not really, says I. Well, says he, the xray shows an old fracture in his pelvis and his lower back. WOW! We got him from SPCLA. Never told about this. Explains a lot though. We were told he was adopted but returned to the shelter a month later. He has had behavioral issues since the beginning. A history of mild seizures and a perpetually shakey front leg. We have had to work long and hard to keep him and others safe. I even consulted with the dog whisperer before he became the dog whisperer. One "behaviorist" told us to put him down.

Just picked him up. He is very wobbly from sedation and such a sweet thing. Spousal Unit whom tends to know and observe the difference between dog vs. child just called Beast "baby" and has him downstairs with him. Awwww.

I'm sure that one pound gain is from the pending arrival of TOM. No worries. Now that the ginger snaps are out of the way, you'll be fine! Awww poor baby beast. Glad he has a loving, caring family to take care of him!

Thanks everyone. He was unconscious for all of yesterday. So out of it he didn't even stir when the fed ex man came. I kept poking him to make sure he was alive. I think he was over sedated. This morning he is lying in Spousal Unit's side of the bed. Usually that is a big no-no but SU heart has melted. Interestingly, I think Beast knows we know he is poorly and now he is letting it all hang out. He is on a diet of rice and cottage cheese and 3 pills a day.
