lineruds's Journal, 19 April 2013

After reaching 177 Lbs. after the holidays, I realized that my methods for weight loss were not working, so I hired a personal trainer and joined the Biggest Loser contest at my gym. My trainer told me I wasn't eating enough calories following this diet, so did my doctor. How frustrating!

So he put me on a more balanced diet between carbs, proteins, and fats, and I'm burning 5,000 calories a week in exercise alone, and I lost weight.

Then that trainer was fired from my gym, and I hired another that has around 30 years of experience. He tells me to eat more protein and fewer fruits and grains. His theory is that humans did not become overweight until they transitioned from hunter gatherers to farming grains, because humans didn't eat many grains before agriculture began. He says that grains are calorie dense cheap food and low in nutrients. I'm having a difficult time adopting their diet because I still believe in Dr. Furhman's teaching of processed meat generating disease. So if anyone is reading my food journals you'll notice that I'm eating more animal protein, but still plenty of fruits and vegetables.

I've also realized some time ago that I have no will power when it comes to certain foods, so I took action by joining Overeaters Anonymous. I felt comfortable talking about my problem with others food addicts, and I could relate to their stories as well. OA adds a spiritual element that I couldn't get out of diet and exercise alone because it follows 12 steps similar to those of alcoholics anonymous.
