are people really losing weight on the medifast diet? I'm starting it today and am wondering how the medifast group is doing. It looks like some are losing weight, but not everyone, and no one at the 4-5 lb/wk rate they claim is possible (i know it's 2-5 lbs). anyone have any thoughts on their experience w/medifast?

uh...yea....take a look at everyone on the medifast diet to see how they are doing on here.... Please don't go by what Fatsecret says is our weight loss rate. I lose 2 to 5 pounds a week when I don't screw up. When I am strickly on program I lose an average of 4.5 pounds a week. Fatsecret just shows your average every time you log your weigh so if I say I lost 7 pounds in one week they would say I am losing 7 pounds a week, which is not completely true since I might have lost a total of 10 pounds that month...and visa versa. Best of wishes. Plenty of us medifasters on here that have had much success. I am sure you saw the people on their website that have lost and the youtube videos...so you know its possible. I'm in my second week of Medifast, so I'm still pretty new to it. I'm still trying to figure it all out and keep hearing "have faith in the system" since I'm not really losing as rapidly as I expected to. I lost a little over 3lbs the first week and I've been relatively steady the last couple days. I just bought a new scale today so I could calculate body fat % and water weight % so that I can get a more accurate feeling for my weight loss. I'm sure a lot of what I'm not seeing is that I'm retaining water or gaining muscle. Its hard to be a daily weigher! If you can avoid weighing yourself every day from the beginning you should, I don't know if I could turn back now that I'm obsessed though. ;)

i'd be really happy w/3 lbs a wk! Since I only have 20-25 to lose i'm not expecting the huge drop per wk. when i weighed more, it seemed much easier to take off weight. i'm hoping for 2.5 but expecting 2.0 lbs. i usually work out an hour on the elliptical so i may lose more w/such a low calorie diet. i hope so!
