Went to a baby shower... ate no junk!!!

My trick is to eat a snack on my way to a party. I forgot to prep so I grabbed two protein snack packs at Target. One had pork chunk and Gouda, the other had an egg, almonds and cheese chunks. 👍 I had spicy pickle bites in my purse in case I got hungry... but there were jalapeño poppers at the party 😍 so I ate two of those! Came home and my dad has made a stew, I forgot stews have potatoes, carrots, red sauce and he even added brown sugar to the sauce before slow cooking it for 12hours... so I ate some of the meat (rinsed it), added a little mayo and cheddar to it. 🤷‍♀️ the night before I didn’t eat his meal because of potatoes... but he thought I was just full because I ate snacks waiting for the tow truck... living with other people who cook and being on a “strict” diet is so hard.
But I just have to be consistent and polite and stick with it!

Poppers are always a speed bump for me. But if you just have a couple it’s not too bad. IF... 😆

@jheeden I eat keto. So poppers help with getting my fats up and carbs low. But they weren’t breaded or anything just cream cheese in a jalapeño with bacon wrapped around. They were yummy, and two small poppers kept me satisfied, even though I was surrounded by my enemy, chips and dips!! 😳 kids were walking around with beach buckets full of potato chips... (it was under the sea themed, so cute) but the constant smell of greasy potato chips was brutal! 😩😂

I'm keto as well, for the most part (I allow myself low carb pitas which technically have some wheat in them, but not much). I need to try those bacon wrapped poppers! Chips have never appealed to me that much, unless it's LOADED NACHOS. Then I'm in deep trouble ha ha. I'm a big breakfast guy so I miss things like an english muffin sandwich or anything in a biscuit. But dropping 50 this year has definitely been worth it and I don't get the cravings anymore. Still want to drop another 30 - 40 if I can in 2019. I've lost 7 inches in the waist and want to lose another 4. Hang in there! We'll get there together :)

Congrats on your loss! 50lbs is a big deal!!! Totally worth it! Oh loaded nachos are the best, where I live has some of the best authentic Mexican restaurants, it’s so hard to drive past them without wanting it! I do the 90 second almond bread when I crave a breakfast sandwich or a bagel. I am gluten free, going on 17 years now, so I have never really found substitutes for my favorites, so avoiding breads and wheat has been my norm, the alternative products out there are usually dense and made of potato or rice, definitely not keto friendly for us! ☹️

@mamamc7 if you’ve been gluten free for 17 years then you would LUV fathead pizza. Have you tried it?

@jheeden No, I’ve never heard of it, is it a store bought pizza?! I usually just get udis gf pizza but it’s really thin and not worth the carbs now that I’m keto.

You did so well at the party! 🙋🏻It’s always difficult to live with others. My mom could never remember the list of food sensitivities I deal with to not trigger constant migraines and so every holiday I would end up reading packages to see if I was safe to eat it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Now, living with my daughter and her friends, they have so much junk in the house that I end up eating crap as well. 🙇🏻‍♀️You are doing great to stick with it and modify your meals as you need to. For the bread thing, I’ve ended up eating quite a bit more of ground flaxseed meal. When I want ‘french toast’ I make a pancake of egg and flaxseed meal and Scottish oats. The flaxseed is really high fiber and the oats have a small shot of protein. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@mamamc7 no, it’s a Keto crust recipe that is super simple and absolutely fantastic! Here is the link: https://www.ditchthecarbs.com/fat-head-pizza/ I like it better than regular pizza. I’ve made the almond flour version but not the coconut flour version. I may try that one this weekend. The almond flour version is so rich, 2 slices is all I can eat. One pizza will last you 4 days.

Thanks for the recipe. I’ll have to try that! Yes, living with others is so tough for countless reasons. But it’s starting to get a little better, getting into the groove of things here. It doesn’t feel too strange since it is my childhood home and bedroom I am in. With our food allergies people have no idea... and wonder why I make EVERYTHING from scratch... because 99% of the packages have gluten (cross contamination) or additives we can’t have... people assume something is “soy sauce” why would it have gluten... or teriyaki 😳 even things that say “contains wheat” they will say “there’s no gluten though”.... 😩🤦‍♀️😱
