I am not losing weight like I want so today I have started the 7 day cabbage soup diet. So far so good but really it has only been a half a day. Today is the day where you eat only fruit and then all the cabbage soup you want. My husband does all the cooking and he hasn't made the soup yet (that is because I only told him about it this morning). He will make the soup when he gets off of work this afternoon so then I'll have a huge bowl of soup for dinner and a few glasses of water. So far today I have eaten 4 apples, 1 orange and drank about 5 glasses of water. I just want to jump start my weight lost. For the past few days I have been walking. According to my fitbit, I have walked 10,000 steps, 5,195 steps, 8,082 steps, 5,777 steps and today I am going to try again for 10,000 but don't know if I can make it there because I am only at 3,771. According to the American Heart Association we should walk 10,000 steps a day but when you have a sit down job to me that is kind of hard so we shall see.

I am so determined not to gain back my 90+ lbs and to lose more weight. I am going to know what it feels like to sit on a bus comfortably.

A church member's daughter performed at the Apollo last week and I rode on a bus with a group of people to New York to support her. Four hours going and four hours going home on that bus and I was in agony. I was way too big for the seats. I felt so sorry for my husband. He was hanging out in the isle and every time someone walked passed he would apologize. I had a great time in New York. That is where I walked the 10,000 steps. I walked so far away from the Apollo that I had to Uber back because I was just not physically fit to make the trip.

I had only been to Manhattan before to see plays and to sight-see. I had never been to Harlem, they have a lot of stores. We did a lot of walking but I didn't buy anything. We went to the Harlem Tavern to eat but I can't really tell you if they have good food or not because I just ate a salad.

I wish I could have stayed in New York, maybe spend the night, catch a play -- ah well, maybe one day. God has blessed us with New York, He definitely will do it again.

23 February 2018

Well its Friday and you did pretty well this week. You did eat some peanut chews (milk chocolate) yesterday but you counted the calories (270), You ate it during the day so I think you are still doing okay. You are determined to do this. Greater is He that is within you that he that is in the world. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You have to encourage yourself daily. You can do this. You have seen people who started this journey with you at WW in 2015 say they have lost 160, 145, 136 lbs and all they did was stick to it. There was no magic wand, they didn't do anything you can't do. Will power -- you can do this because you have to. You are 57 years old, you do not want to go into your 60 morbidly obese -- you know they say that is when your body really starts to slow down (in your 60s). Well lady if your body is going to start slowing down even more, don't you at least want a lot less weight on you.

Always find the healthier choice, don't deprive yourself because then you will give up. If you want a chip get one, but get a baked chip, put it in a sandwich bag, PORTION CONTROL, is the name of the game. Go grocery shopping, don't eat at fast food places -- all of them have hidden calories that is why the food taste so good -- but remember it is also unhealthy for you. YOU CANNOT EAT FAST FOOD. Say to yourself, I had many years of double quarter pounders, foot long steak and cheese, big plate of onion rings, large McDonald's french fries. Sister girl, none of what you named is worth you DYING over, none of it.

Remember what killed your mother. You are 57 years old. Your mother died at the age of 57, the month of September, well you have already outlived your mom -- keep it up. Walk, exercise. Watch what you eat, IT IS THAT SIMPLE.

Your mom would have loved to have stayed around and seen your girls, but your mom loved food. She loved butter pecan ice cream and shell peanut. Type it then read it -- your mom died because she loved BUTTER PECAN ICE CREAM AND PEANUT NUTS. She gained a massive amount of weight from it and it raised her blood pressure. She had a stroke, she was unhealthy. Your mom is gone. Your daughters never got to meet your mom. Not only are your future grandchildren going to meet you, they are going to know you. You are going to the college graduation of your future grandchildren. Myself now, promises my future self that we are going to be healthy. I promise you that you will not have to give yourself needles in your stomach like we did years ago, we are not going back to taking all that medicine again. That is in the past. We are healthy and by George we are going to remain healthy.

Now take a minute and praise God. The date is February 23rd -- come here weekly and read this. You are the most important person in your life. You are fearfully and wonderfully made and God loves you and so do I. We are going to do this. Karen please, we are going to do this not by our strength but by the strength of the Lord because where we are weak He is strong (2 Cor. 12:9 - And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” )
