Goal Weight

i'm 27 yrs old. two great kids and a loving hubby. i am attempting to lose the weight that i've packed on since we moved a couple provinces over. i put on almost 20 pounds and can't wear my clothes anymore, which was my biggest wake up call. I have SB before, but normally just to lose a couple pounds to make a dress fit nicer, but this time i actually HAVE to lose the weight, so this is my first real serious go at it. I tend to distribute my weight nicely, but gaining 20 pounds in 6 months is not good no matter how you look at it.

Upset Stomach on South Beach Phase 1
i had that before too...although typically i felt the worst by about day 4 of week one, then things started to pick up. If its just your body crying out for something ( a craving ) and if its upsetting your stomach, if something like an apple or no sugar added applesauce would help...i go the route of being reasonable Smile have half an apple, and see if that helps. now i don't want to cause any upset here, but we do have to realize that apples are good for you, a natural source of sugar and yum yum so delicious! the concept of cutting them out during this first phase is indeed to cut cravings and if you are already into your second week, i think you'll be fine if you allow yourself this small amount. Anything to keep your tummy settled and to keep you on track Smile i have successfully been on this diet for close to a year, lost almost 25 pounds and have kept it off ( my recorded start weight was a couple pounds lower than my heaviest ). And i'll be honest that if i felt i needed a couple croutons on my salads on occasion, i surely did it Smile If i needed some hazelnut creamer in my coffee, i had a little bit. We just have to be reasonable with ourselves so that we can maintain the 'diet'. i hope you know what i mean and don't go overboard with anything, b/c that'll just set you up for failure. give yourself a healthy snack, help settle your digestive tract and keep on with phase one!!

HELP! am starting SB tomorrow and need some HAVE TOS to stay on track
first time i south beached, i almost died in those first couple days...withdrawing from sugar made me feel headachey, shaky and definatly sick to my stomach. but by the 4th day it seemed to let up. i suggest you have sugar free candies, like mint chocolate chip or a fruity sugar free gum when a sweet craving hits you. i make sure to have chopped up veggies ( celery, cucumber, etc ) always on hand, and low fat cheese is always good. I like to make those fudgsicle p/b things in the evening to end the day...i definatly miss the sweets more than the breads and pastas. I also keep light hot chocolate on hand and make myself mocha's every so often. i'm normally a capacinno (sp?) drinker...so that helps a LOT. the recipes in this site tho are amazing and have made a huge difference this time. try to mix it up a lot so you don't get tired of your meals.
