Busy and overwhelmed with work and house-hunting. Even though I lost weight this week, I haven't been eating a balanced diet and don't feel very healthy overall.
I've been eating too much salt and sugar, and not enough vegetables. I've been treating myself to dessert more often than I should because I've been working long hours and feel like "I deserve it," but I've noticed that I'm having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning. It all hit me today, when I slept in much later than usual and, after having yogurt and coffee for breakfast, I still feel exhausted, almost hungover. Maybe it's dehydration. Maybe it's being mentally and emotionally wiped out. Maybe it's both?
I'm very much looking forward to my weekend off. I plan on finishing planting my herb garden and taking it as easy as possible with my family.

I'm planning a trip to Lowe's today to purchase gardening materials. We didn't have a true winter this year, which was disappointing as I love snow, but I'm trying to make the most of it by getting a head start on my planting.
First, I have to tackle the front yard, which is where my herb garden will be. As it stands, there are countless weeds that need to be pulled, the grass needs nutrients and a small fence needs to be erected around the bed where my herbs will grow since Maple likes to trounce that area during her morning constitutional.
I'll need gardening gloves, weed killer that's dog-safe, grass feed, and herb seeds. We're not expecting a frost for the next few weeks, so I should be good to get started. My only concern is that we're expecting consistent rain through March, but hopefully the sun comes out enough to get things going.
After I tackle the front yard, I'll be able to focus on the garden in the backyard, which will have carrots, broccoli, green beans, tomatoes, onions and watermelon (assuming they all grow). That will be quite a labor of love. I'm thinking of documenting all of this in photographs on my blog (which I really want to start writing on more).

Although I haven't been tracking my food the last few days (busy work week), I've tried to be very mindful of my gluten intake and portion sizes. As a result, I've lost a pound and am almost back to my pre-vacation weight (I was 139 in early January and 139.5 this morning).
I'm going to the movies with a friend today and will certainly get a buttered popcorn, so I'm going to have a small lunch to be safe.
