I got my hair lightened yesterday. It looks nice. I think it will help with my confidence to have a new hair style.

I did well in terms of my diet. I had a second helping at dinner, which wasn't part of the plan, but I didn't eat much during the day so I felt it was fair. It's okay to be hungry some of the time, but I don't want to feel like I'm depriving myself of something if it's healthy.

Breakfast
1 cup green juice
(Bolthouse Farms brand - spinach + apple + kiwi + pineapple + mango)

Lunch
chicken Caesar salad
(romaine + spinach + roasted chicken + croutons + Caesar dressing)
seltzer water

Snack
trail mix - cashews, dried cherries, chocolate-covered raisins

Dinner
chicken quinoa casserole
(baked chicken, quinoa, spinach, broccoli, cream & cheese)
seltzer water

Exercise
20 minutes barre ballet

I ate well yesterday, and am proud of myself. I'm down half a pound already, just from cutting out sugar and unnecessary salt.

I've taken an interest in ballet recently, and decided to order a ballet fitness video using my Amazon Prime account. I ordered it through my Roku, so the video was downloaded right into the TV and I was able to use it immediately. It was great. I decided that I want to do it right, so I ordered a leotard, skirt and ballet shoes from Capezio. I took a few years of ballet/pointe growing up, and in addition to being a great workout, it helped with balance, posture and poise, so I'm excited about this.

I'm also excited because I've decided to address the issues that have been making me feel bad about my appearance. I'm having a scar that's been on my nose removed by a plastic surgeon next week.

I'm also going to the dentist for a cleaning and whitening, and the hairdresser to have my hair lightened this week. Losing weight is my main concern, but because it's a slow process, it's easy to feel like no progress is being made and feel bad about yourself - especially as a woman in her 30s who's bombarded by images of perfectly toned, shiny-haired, tanned, glamorous women across the media. I'm hoping that by the time my nose heals, I'll be in a better place mentally with all of this little improvements.

I don't like the word cleanse because it implies that you aren't eating solid foods, so I won't use the word cleanse here. But I'm going to do a five-day challenge that is drastically different from how I've been eating.

It's a low-carb, low-sugar diet that I'll start tomorrow, and will only continue with for five days since I don't think it's sustainable in the long-term. But it should help flatten my stomach substantially and hopefully get my brain and also my skin to a better place in a short amount of time.

It will consist of green juice for breakfast, nuts & fruit for a snack, salad for lunch, quinoa/lentils and meat for dinner, and a low carb, low sugar snack if I get hungry at night.

I'm not following the diet today since I still have to go food shopping for it, but I'm trying to make better choices today. I've been stuck around the 140-141 lb mark for the last 4 months and I need to get over the hurdle.
