Too many meals out during school break to lose any weight, but enough good choices about nutrition and activity that I didn't gain any either. Back on track this week, with one week left until I try on all my skirts and dresses again. My original goal for the eight-week mark was to have three more skirts and dresses fit. I'm pretty confident that I will make it based on how much better other things are already fitting.

A Valentine's weekend for the record books -- romantic dinner with hubby last night(and neither of us is the mushy type, so that's saying something), great family breakfast with daughter #2 up at 5am to decorate for us as a sweet surprise, daughter #1 currently making her sugar cookies (yes, I will have one), and, for the first time ever, I resisted a creme brulee for dessert last night (although I did say yes to a second negroni after dinner). Ended the Valentine's festivities by making a quick and easy roasted red bell pepper soup for dinner. It's red, so that counts, right?

Pounds are coming off at a decent, steady pace but mostly I'm excited about how clothes are already fitting better and general aches and pains are so much less than they were six weeks ago. This is the first time I've enjoyed the process of losing weight and getting back to a decent level of fitness instead of just enjoying the results. Thanks to everyone on FS for their role in that, enjoy the weekend and have a lovely Valentine's Day!

Anyone else in a rut for healthy but quick weeknight meals? Kids trying hard not to complain about the same handful of meals over and over again (but you can see the looks on their faces)? I'm really enjoying the
Fresh Food Superfast
cookbook from Cooking Light. Lots of family-pleasing meals and almost every entree recipe is paired with a veggie or other side dish. Menu planning just got an upgrade at our house.
